After posting in the summer about how to cope with the heat when trying to sleep, it's come back to bite me on the derrier now the weather has gone autumnal. I'm trying not to put the heating on until it is really cold (last year I managed to go until November before it was cold enough for a switch on) but I find it's my feet that are suffering, they never seem to get warm despite the socks, the fluffy slippers etc. is this a common diabetic problem. The duvet is back on the bed, so it must be getting colder. Ho hum! I suppose it's back to the microwave hotties again.

Chris I actually put my heating on this afternoon for 30 minutes, I was so cold, which is rare for me especially in October o_O but my feet are always warm, only slippers on my feet over the weekend and no socks, very rarely get the 'diabetes cold feet' but no hot water bottle............yet!

Before being put on my meds I would never feel a chill like today.
I was out for the usual Sunday football and I was shivering and my hands were stuck in my pants pockets.
I'm not use to being cold even in January. Oh ****! Hasn't dropped much below 10 degrees! Thermals out I think!

I would love to feel the cold ....always seem over hot .....when I do feel, cold on a very wintery day I just love my sofa and blanket ...that is a treat ...x

I've got Raynauds too and I am really suffering at the mo. Two pairs of socks, two pairs of gloves and a scarf accompanied by a very thick coat today on the playground and I was very cold :/

or are you a ggoalkeeper:D:D

No I coach at u14 level. My grandsons team! To cap it all, we played last years champions and we played brilliant and didn't take our chances and had a goal disallowed. We lost 3-0. Their first chance was a penalty just before half time!
I use to play left back.....................

..........in the changing room!

Ho hum!

I take my hat off to you for being a coach to these u14's.
Best of luck with the weather during your teams winter games, and hope you stay warm

I have my thermals all ready for the winter. I can't believe how cold I was yesterday! I've worked outside for years and the cold has never affected me. It maybe I'm getting old or I think it's because of my weight loss and my BSLs are in total control.
What would I rather have!
Mmmm!

I always used to be hot and even hotter. Could never get cool........

Now though, it is quite the opposite. My hands and feet are always cold and I can track this to blood glucose levels. That makes me feel uncomfortable even if my body is still warm.

I am not sure it is the medicines per say but more the reducing glucose levels in your body and possibly your body withdrawing its blood due to the difference from previous levels to now levels. Well that is what I hope and it will get better as it gets used to it.

@Kat100 you can have my cold hands and feet whenever you feel like them

Hi Andrew , Thank you for thinking of me ....:) :)
I have just had my metformin reduced from 1500mg to 1000mg and trying SR to try and help gastric problems ....so I hope to get colder soon if things balance out .....we will see .....have to try the SR for a few months yet ....next blood test late December ...
You make some good points regarding my lower levels ....I really hope this is the case ....I long to be cold ...it is about getting the balance right it seems ....GP does not know how to stop the sweating but is giving it some thought ...no,drugs available only Botox injections.....
Better news ....you have offered to share your hands and feet with me ....well ooo errrr :p:oops::D Won't tell anyone ...lol :wideyed:

It is good to know that your heating system has changed over time ....I will let you know how I get on over the next 10 weeks while we see if the SR works ....interesting this hot and cold problem ....thanks again Andrew as always your support has been great and is valued ...Kat x
Hope you are not to cold like freezing ....and hope you have made a full recovery after your op and that you are feeling so much better...
FAO @Andrew Colvin

What's all this about being cold? I wish! Still too warm for me, although it is better now. I'm still just wearing jeans and T-shirt but I'm noticing nearly everyone else is wearing a coat. What is wrong with them all?

Hi @Kat100 ooo errrrr most definitely lol - didn't mean it like that :angelic:

I am very well as far as the operation thanks - fully recovered - but still not running only walking.

I used to be hot and sweaty all the time but this summer I didnt get sweaty at all except when I exercised so it was much more comfortable. Looking forward to testing out Jamaica next May.

:coldfeet:

Only teasing @Andrew Colvin :p :playful: Lol could not resist ...

Jamaica next May what a great thing to look forward to ....imagine you will need more clothes by then....
I do appreciate all your information ....it is really helpful ...I can't run , well perhaps just a little way , I had a little go the other day my husband was with me , he shouted stop, stop , I had the eggs in my rucksack which we buy when out on our walks ....all fine not scrambled ....
It is fast walking for us .....I am still making muscle .....will need your advise again soon ....I love your science brain ...thanks again Kat

I am not losing weight at the moment, In fact I have put on 2 lbs! However, my trouser size has got a little smaller so must be building muscle as well. Think I will have to go on a heavily reduced calorie spree again for a few weeks just to get down to my target of 12st. I obviously slowed it down just too much too fast.

I had to make a special trip to buy a new belt, cos of my weight loss, I'm saving up for smaller kecks and my jumpers are massive! Christmas can't come quick enough!
Have already written my list to Santa!

I have to say I have never felt the cold that is untill I started with Diabetes...now my legs and feet are freezing and have started wearing bed socks something i have never done in the past....I already put my thermals on top and bottoms never wore them iether untill i was diagnosed with diabetes
and would be interested to know if being cold is due to taking the diabetec tablets or not???

I'm not on tablets and I feel the cold now. I have a bit of a double whammy though as I have lowered my BG levels dramatically, which I think have been high for years, and lost so much weight and therefore have no padding. I must say I am only as cold as my wife now though so maybe this is normal
