Accu-Check Aviva Expert

Within normal variation between tests on the same machine, let alone two different machines.

Both meters are fine.

@Giverny how do we make a sticky for this recurring question?

no it's not that the other day it said i was 15 x3 on 1 machine and 8 on the other i think it may be broke :L
 
Did you wash hands prior to testing?

You should have calibrating fluid. Test and if out of range contact Accuchek. Other than that Accuchek machines that I have had actually give a small increase in levels compared to real blood from a vein..

Your other machine could be wrong... Or if you don't wash hands etc... Certainly your first posting was absolutely normal for machines and fingers... You will very, very, very ever get the same results.

i know that but for the big difference is a bit ott, and when my friend's daughter was rushed to hospital she has the same problem with hers :l
 
My hubby checked himself on my pump meter.. Same as the expert... He didn't was hands. Got a reading of 18.2. I was ready to take him to A&E. He washed hands and was his normal 4's.
I too have had a really bad hypo after testing at 18.. Doing a correction, without re checking and washing hands. It was Xmas and I'd been preparing food.

You didn't confirm whether you had all washed hands pre testing, Accuchek will not accept queries if you haven't and if you haven't calibrated checked your machines.
 
No problems at all with the Expert meter, my only gripe (but this goes for all the Accu-Chek meters) is the time it takes to read the test strip. There's always going to be a slight difference in bg readings when taking two readings, the meters can be up to +/-15% out in their accuracy, they are not a precision instrument and this needs to be kept in mind, but sadly they are all we have for now.
 
Error 57 is my worst failing with our pumps .. Say electronic error but is actually when you've applied blood sample too soon!!

This isn't uncommon. In general Accu chek Aviva strips tend to read slightly higher than other brands, this was witnessed by doctors and nurses who use Abbott bg meters.
 
Abbott meter strips were recalled, for giving lower readings... (As I experienced and reported to Abbot and MHRA with their CGM).

There isn't one meter that is 100% accurate. Their purpose are as a guideline to levels.....
