I am real bad as I snack and eat loads junk food and drink but this off set by hand digging gardens, walking dogs for a living and doing a normal job.
I get my check up and specialist says I managing ok but concerned about my WIEGHT!

HI,
Personally i have never been told this by professionals.. I've been the same weight for the last 28 years?
Yep, I've had the odd personal jibe in the past. I just think its metabolism & genetics..

So long as you are healthy would take notice to put weight on. I was on DAFNE with a guy with hardly any body fat and he had to be careful where he injected but they did not say he needed to gain weight!

I do same digging, gardening for my work and walking dogs...

What I would ask is.. What is your BMI?

More importantly though, whats is your hba1c and your levels running at on a daily basis? eating junk food and drinking may not be off set by your physical daily job, it might be because your bloods are running too high..

I use myfitnesspal just to check that I am getting enough food and nutrition and calories.
I do not eat junk food and maintain my size 10.

I would be inclined to agree with what Donnelysdogs posted above..
Higher running blood sugars over the norm could be a reason.? Either through not quite bolusing corectly or not enough basal?

We have all heard about the devistating effects of skipping or not even injecting insulin at all.. I'm certainly not suggesting this is the OP's case!!
Having said that my Hba1c was 6.5 %.. I still cant put weight on.. Lol
I notice from your profile Pityaka we are aproximately the same age.. But not sure of gender.
Have you been the same most your adult life.. Or have there been fluctuations..?

we live in an obese society, are you sure you are underweight?, as has been said, what's your BMI. the easiest way is to increase your carbs, normal protein and fat, though personally I'm more LCHF

It might be a good idea to sit down with a dietician, they really can be beneficial. I'm not sure how you can manage to drink without getting ill, the most I have it is a pint and that was right after a meal and it was one of those "light" lagers. I get nausea if I eat too much of anything, but I have blood sugar issues that started differently.

It's just a reversal of what is said to those who need to lose weight, in order to gain weight you need to consume extra calories.

Try eating nuts and seeds as a snack or things like Babybels which might not effect your bg too much. However, if your diabetes isn't very well controlled then this will be the reason why you can't put on weight, as Mz.Fire says ask to see a Dietitian if you have concerns about your weight.

I have had the same problem. I managed to put on a stone and a half by eating more meat, cheese, full fat milk, cream butter etc.

If your blood sugar levels are good you probably won't have to worry about protein. If they are not so good the extra protein in meat might make your bs levels worse, in which case concentrate on eating more fat (double cream, butter, fatty meats etc)

You could try a bulletproof coffee.
Normal cup of coffee with 30g butter and 30g coconut oil whisked up in the coffee. Tastes good. Around 500 calories per cup.

I have been doing a high fat diet for 6 months now (to put on then over last 3 months to maintain weight), and my Dr says my cholesterol check last week was good, in fact better than last years.

Im type one and was told I needed to put weight on. I was like you eating junk food and sky high sugars. This was corrected after I got them under control by taking my insulin. Now im gaining weight and it's staying on.
