Type 2's: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning?

Hi @AndBreathe . Nothing to apologise for - you haven't asked before!

To be honest, I now sleep so heavily that I'm not really conscious enough at those times of the night! I only wake once for the bathroom and am only half-awake then. Going back over my diary, I have recorded a few levels at between 5.9 and 7.7 at around 2am and 4.30am

I too am an early bird, rarely lie-in and usually bounce around like Tigger as soon as my eyes are open! Taking my bs is the 2nd thing I do in the morning, as soon as I have been to the bathroom and washed my hands, and before having anything to drink.

I am awaiting a second liver scan which I think may be revealing as my bs during the day are really good.

Thank you for you observations

EDIT I have monthly blood tests to check liver function because of the risk to my liver from taking Methotrexate by injection. The results are consistently slightly raised but not causing alarm. I believe there is a connection which is why I have stopped taking the drug

Methotrexate is a very clever, but horrid drug. Hopefully your liver function will ease a little given time.

Live dangerously and test without washing your hands. Were they clean when you went to bed? And what do you do in the night to make them unsavoury?

Lol..... I have tried that a few times and you'd be surprised at some of the weird readings I've had on unwashed hands in a morning. I suspect sweat has some effect and I'm of that certain lady age when I no longer just glow during the night. I'll just have to be good and get up.

You could test unwashed, and only get up if you have a weird reading......

5.5 this morning, prefer my 4.9 or 5.2 but not going to stress! Went out for coffee yesterday afternoon at 3pm........came home at 9.30pm! Think the "coffee date" went well as we ended up moving on to a different bar to have dinner!! (Obviously I was a little jittery with the menu but went with the chicken burger minus bun and chips but had salad and coleslaw) ate around 7.15pm and when home I was 6.2 (was 4.9 pre meal) apart from that ok result, I seem to be smiling a lot today;)

3.6 for me this morning. I was

Great minds think alike. That's what I used to do then got out of habit. Now if only I could get Mr E to fetch me breakfast in bed as soon as I came to properly, my morning routine would be perfect.

Why is the song... Love is in the air... going round and round in my brain... :clown:

It's good to have a project on the go............ ;)

3.6 for me this morning, after a funny old night’s sleep. Hey ho.

Today, I have set myself quite a task to get yet more clothes ready for eBay. I have been astonished at the prices my pre-loved clothing have commanded, and absolutely everything has sold quickly. Today is business suits (10 of them!), winter jackets and maybe a couple of coats. I’m undecided whether to spread this lot over a couple of weeks, so as not to flood the market (get me!). I’m also conscious that too much further into November and everyone will be thinking of Christmas, not winter coats or sharp suits. It’s all a game! But, Gladys will be dressed and undressed to within an inch of her tailor’s dummy life today, and the descriptions written, and I’ll decide as I go along. I won’t list until Sunday, so I have time, but I’m trying to get the wardrobe chaos out of the way whilst Mr B is away. He’s back later today, so no pressure!

It looks very cold outside today, with quite a sharp frost on the cars and roofs. I love to look at these mornings, being out in them is something else!! Since I got very skinny, I find I feel the cold quite badly, so I feel for Connie coming back to UK to live after (I’m assuming) a number of years abroad. I’ll be heading back to Paradise just after the holidays so I can top up on my Vit D and inner warmth.

Play nicely boys and girls. As my OH said yesterday after the funeral he is away attending, “Occasions like these act as a sharp reminder to ensure we actually live our lives and don’t fritter them away just bumbling along, without direction, until it’s rather too late.” I rather agree with him.

Anyone for a bed bath?? I am a nurse :)

I now have the voice of Kenneth Williams saying " ooh Matron in my head. ( somewhat wrongly I have always had a thing about him and yes I know he was gay and somewhat strange! )

That's the way to go!
Never worth worrying about food in advance, there's always something on the menu, even if you end up leaving some of it, and sending it back.
At worst, I've had to order an extra side salad, and have it with a starter instead of a main meal, but my tolerances have changed since then, but it's still always an option.

I agree with your husband though putting it into practice isn't always my best skill. I'm hoping to go back to university to do an MA so am currently taking an OU course to brush up my skills and prepare a portfolio ( wanting to do creative writing). It's a bit daunting but it's important that we lush ourselves out of comfort zone sometimes.
I'm also feeling the cold badly now I've lost weight. I always had a touch of Raynaud's syndrome with my fibromyalgia but it has worsened of late - I suspect that it is influenced by some of the lower levels of BG I've been experiencing as around 4.6 my toes and fingers get really cold and I can feel my adrenaline response getting itchy to start a fight or flight. It's a delicate balance between staving off a panic attack and running tight control.

@cold ethyl Getting up late, higher readings.

It definitely makes a difference to me. No question. My recent higher levels in the morning have been when I slept in, including this morning. An hour makes a big difference to me.

Going to bed 5.3
This morning 5.9 (up late)

I have read that people who get up fully alert and full of bounce have naturally larger liver dumps than those that stay zombies until after breakfast. This makes sense if you think about it.

I thought it would be the case- I guess I'll have to balance the joys of staying in bed with lower readings.
