Day 1 of reduced carbs and new meds and testing before and 2 hours after meals

Before Breakfast 7.8 ..... 2 hrs later 7.7
Homemade green smoothie, made with Almond milk, 1/2 frozen banana, 5 strawberries, kale, spinach, chia seeds & flaxseed :hungry:

Before lunch 7.3 ..... 2 hrs later 7.1
Veg & cheese bake... courgettes, cabbage, peas, leeks, green beans topped with very low carb cheese sauce. T'was Divinely Orgasmic :hungry: ;)

At around 5.30 pm I felt shaky and light headed and couldn't quite figure out whether I wanted food or not because by now I'm usually hungry and eating dinner. Anyway, thought I'd check bs. To my amazement the meter was showing 5.8 :happy:
I just stood there starring down at 5.8 ... on my 1st day of new meds and reduced carbs. Fantastic

By 6 pm I was hungry but not starving, so I had a tiny portion of the left over veg & cheese bake. I'll check bs later and update.

I'm not sure if the readings before and after are ok?

It's been an interestingly Awesome day

I'd be happy with those readings. Well done you.:)

Just checked those sausages out online. £4.50 for 10 sausages or 3 pkts (30 sausages) for £10 saving £3.50
And check out the Nutritional values...carbs and sugars/per 2 sausages. That means I can have 10 sausages at a time.:D:D

I'm away staying with in-laws so the eating is a huge challenge as I don't have the same control over my food as I do at home. I'm longing for a big wok-ful of dark leafy greens and other veg with tuna, which is my staple at home. I like a big bowl of food based around veg, whereas in laws like meat and potato with a small portion of veg and they cook the bejesus out of the veg, it makes me want to weep. Nevertheless I've stuck to it, with the only slip being a small piece of chocolate cake on my son's 2nd birthday. Today:

B: 2 boiled eggs, bit of Edam, coffee with cream in.

L: salad leaves with bit of red pepper, tomato, spring onion, olives, goats cheese, cut up frankfurters, aioli.

D: Caesar salad in a food court, leaving out the croutons. Bit of Edam. Handful almonds.

No real idea what tomorrow will bring but father-in-law recently discovered Paleo which is a huge help as it means there's always salad in the house, and eggs.

Lunch today was goats cheese and salad and figs. Absolutely divine
Dinner tonight
Pork tenderloin medallions gently cooked with streaky bacon and shallots..de glaze pan with whole grain mustard and lemon juice and finish off with double cream
With buttered cabbage. Need I say more...mmm
Also a splash of cider at the de glazing point

mmm that sounds delicious. I m hoping to have steak if it ever defrosts.. last minute decision and it's like death here today.

Also experimented with gram flour batter...put spices in with flour and used river cottage idea of sparkling water for a lighter crisper batter. Made onion rings ...they were really nice. So making a few to go with supper with my daughter...

B: oats, yoghurt, berries and cream
L: cheese, slice of ham, 6 baby plum tomatoes, green leaves
D: Im off out again, so it will have to be something quick. Probably have ham and cheese again and more berries and yoghurt - honestly, I could live on that alone!

Saw my Consultant today, and he does not think I have gastroparesis...but on the other hand, it could be that and needs keeping an eye on it....but don't think it is....more blood tests. Also, I have lost 4kg since my last appointment in October, hurrah! All down to lchf :-* :-*

Breakfast ... Almond, cranberry and banana and seeds smoothie
Lunch was delicious, I'd made a paneer, kale and spinach curry, didn't have anything with it as I wasn't too hungry.
Dinner chickpea and vegetable stew

I've been surprisingly good with not buying or making any mince pies this year... This is my biggest weakness at this time of the year. If I'd had some at home I'd fancy one with cream later.... But I don't think mince pies fit in with low carbing.

sounds delicious. I love saag paneer but never can get it as delicious as our local Indians.

breakfast bacon scrambled eggs
lunch pate, cheese, bit of coleslaw, couple raw baby carrots, stick celery , pickled onions
dinner steak, mushrooms, onions, salad with bit of coleslaw and feta, few oven baked skin on wedges followed by 21 minutes peddling.

B - tomato and olive salad with 2oz of german smoked cheese and a teaspoon of live oil
L - a grilled salmon streak and a bowl of broccoli soup
D - 2 x lamb chops with onions and mushrooms and a large piece of broccoli

Berries and cream for later if I need it.

Last couple of days:

B: coffee n cream
S: 70% choc
L: pork scratchings, Brie or humus and scratchings
D: chicken thighs, chorizo, onion, tomato sauce, sugarsnaps

Then, yesterday I had some chocolates (50g carbs?), and today, a mince pie!(maybe 35g carbs?)

Felt cr*ppy yesterday evening. Same again today.

Worried I may be teetering on the edge of the rails!
Don't know if it is Xmas, work stress, boredom, availability of Mr B's Xmas stash, the cold weather, hormones... Who knows?

But I really do feel that I'm wobbling. :nailbiting:

Sorry to hear you're teetering. Can't you ban Mr B from having a stash til nearer Xmas or make your own low carb stash- I' was feeling peckish so just had a chunk of pate with some cheese as my " pudding".

Lol
Too late.

There are currently 2 stash piles.
Xmas pud, pies, sticky toffee pud and fudge on countertop in kitchen.
Then a second tower of cheese balls, mini cheddars, posh crisps behing his desk.

There is also the entire output of the a couple of cheeseries in the fridge, plus pickles and fancy marmalade in the cupboard - beside the bagels, bread bin and crackers.

Doesn't usually bother me.
It's definitely me, not the stash presence.
I'll see what tomorrow brings. Maybe I am just tired. It was a very long day at work!

Tbh it's only the cheese and crisps off there I could go mad on- never been fond of Xmas cakes, mince pies, cheesy balls etc so I'm safe from temptation there. Must admit I had 5 crisps with my lunch- rest of bag still sitting there- I had 3 dark chocolate brazils instead. Selenium and copper in a delicious mouthful.
