4.4 for me. Don't know if it's that or lousy sleep but woke up craving TWO slices of heavily buttered toast. Wasn't going to test either :-( but saw updates from the App on my phone and got ass into gear, tested and made porridge wth soya milk just double usual fruit and nuts though this pack heavy on almonds. Thanks for being here this morning and that's BEFORE I've read your posts :-). Will save having bread for cheese on toast lunch - ONE slice...

12.1 this morning, my first time with my new meter - a fasted test. I was diagnosed last Thursday, prescribed Metformin, and have been very diet conscious since. The 12.1 is disappointing as it's above the 11.5 the blood test the GP took that led to my diagnosis. Oh well, I guess it takes time for the meds and the lifestyle changes to take effect.

Don't worry, it will come down. Morning fastings are usually the last figure to come down because such a lot f it is out of our control. It can depend on whether you had a restless night, are stressed, what you ate the night before, and what time you take the test in the morning. The best way is to get out of bed, wash hands, test. If you leave the test till after you have been up and about for a while, the levels may rise due a liver dump. You may even get a liver dump anyway. Keep going. You will get there.

5.2 at bedtime 11-15pm
5.3 at bathroom visit 2am
5.5 this morning
:)

I'm out Christmas shopping today, including lunch with the girls. Nothing special, just a café, but they specialise in homemade breads. Oh dear.

That calls for lots of butter ;-)

Thanks BlueT!

6.5 this morning. Slept in and seem to have part two of the sore throat that is doing the rounds. Need to get up and out as plans have all gone to pot as woodburning cooker needs some parts before Xmas so a trip out to collect them now added to list.

Look after that sore throat. You want it better before Christmas.

8.7 this morning. I had an unusually large amount of blackberries yesterday evening!
Thought they were one of the "good guys" I've found my fasting seems to be best after "naughty" foods night before. Two mince pies (soya pastry)with cream plus go-ahead strawberry yoghurt break - both slices before bed. Neither of which spike me on their own. Several handfuls of a sweet cereal when dog got me up at 2am...... Liver must "help" me out overnight when I've been good ;-)

@Monday12

Thought I would just mention that the blood test taken by you Doctor would have given your average BG figure for the previous 2/3 months, so don't be to disappointed with your first reading.

Metformin takes a couple of weeks to kick in and is only an aid, diet exercise and control is the way to go.

Good luck with your journey.

Been there, done that, it will settle down. As everyone told me it would and it did! Good Luck and welcome.

Guess what 5.4 two hours after a breakfast of;

Fried egg, tinned tomatoes, half a tin of heinz baked beans, slice of hi-lo bread with butter and cup of tea with lemon and cinnamon. And of course my half glass of juiced Bitter Gourd. Makes me happy...
