Hi again, unfortunately, the ups and downs of her bloods are making her feel worse. The drastic way, and I recommend it, is to not eat or drink anything for at least 12 hours as this will stabilise her. Always monitoring and testing.
What happens is because no food or liquid, there is nothing to spike her then give her a low.
You must recognise that the sugars and carbs are doing this to her. She is creating far too much insulin and then too much glucagon, that is raising her blood levels quicker and then crashing.
You can feed her a varied diet without carbs and sugars. There is plenty of low carb recipes on this site. Once you start on the low carbs, you will see the difference.
I often have to tell people that I have an allergy with carbs and sugar!
Look for alternatives than the high carbs.
Please don't give her sweets or glucose or a sugary drink if she has a hypo, because it will accelerate the ups and downs of the 'reaction'! She only needs a plain biscuit and a sugar free drink to raise her blood sugars slowly.
Hope I'm not confusing you! Please ask.

Just reread your post, it will only be a specialist that would recognise the condition. Gps would not have an idea, I've been there! Ask for a referral to an endocrinologist. And hopefully she will get a diagnosis.

This is a familiar battle that many people have had. The NHS seems to have a blind spot about reactive hypoglycaemia.

But (sorry about this) I'm going to have to shoot straight from the hip here.

STOP GIVING HER SWEETS

Children don't need sugar at any time. They need nutrition, and there's none of that in sugar, and there's precious little nutrition in the kind of pasteurised processed juice she is probably drinking.

If you don't give her sweet foods, her tastes will adjust rapidly and she'll soon be happy eating less sweet things.

All my life, I have known that the worst thing I can do is eat sugar, bread, pasta, potato. Within 2-4 hours I would feel dreadful. That meant no toast, cereal, biscuits, cake, juice or similar for breakfast. I can't even have a glass of milk because it has milk-sugars in it. Instead I would eat eggs, bacon, cheese, leftovers from dinner... And I would feel good all morning. In fact, I would feel good until I next ate carbs.

If your daughter really does have reactive hypoglycaemia then you can control it. You can make her feel well, and stay feeling well. All you have to do is give her nutritious, non carbohydrate foods. But giving her milk, juice and sweets... Well that would make me feel really bad. So I can imagine how she felt.

I will echo Brunnerias post. I was ill for years and only when my GP gave up, not knowing what was going on did I get a referral. If you are unhappy and she doesn't feel well, then go back to A&E and go from there. Ask for a specialist in endocrinology and tell them about repetitive hypos. They will hopefully do this. You are going to have a battle on your hands to get the diagnosis.
She needs tests for glucose tolerance and fasting tests! They will need to do c peptide and many other blood tests. I have had lots.
You will have to start thinking along the lines of,--- Carbohydrates and sugar is poisonous to your daughter. Her body cannot cope with them, they make her ill. The only way to stop her feeling like this is to feed her non carb foods.

Seriously I would really cut down on the sugary stuff as much as possible.
Dietary advice where if it is a similar condition on hypoglycaemia, is not good!
As i said in an earlier post, they haven't got a clue about it! They are only guessing. I'm not! I'm allergic to carbs and sugars, I stay away as much as possible!
Best wishes.

can you ring your Dr for a second opinion on the sugar drink?...I know you must be so confused with strangers on the internet saying your hospital is wrong..when all you want is what's best for your daughter.
only in a bad hypo would I give sugar and get her to hospital as previously told by the hospital

I think sugar is a problem and also the short term fix..this is like giving alcohol to a drunk to stop the shakes

The reason why she is crying and always unwell is in the mood swings and the cravings for sugary stuff.
Explain to her daddy, would he put a substance that makes her ill in her water that he knows makes her unwell. Or a drug In her food that could put her in hospital. I know I've been there!
I know it's hard, I spent a lot of time in children's wards and there is nothing worse than when you know you can't give them what they want. That's why they invented the word no!
You can rewRd in so many other ways!
