FREESTYLE LIBRE ON SALE!!!!

Well, my next gripe with Abbott - and this is a pretty big one - I've just received my credit card bill and they have charged me twice for the two sesors I ordered on 9 December! Seriously, two line items for them on my credit card bill - one with transaction date of 8 December and the other 9 December. Both for exactly the same amount £101.52 (two sensors). Both charged to the card on 12 December! Now, you'll all know this isn't even possible as the website doesn't let you order within 14 days of your last order and restricts you to 2 sensors. Goodness knows how long it will take me to get that sorted out - but customer Services is closed now until after the New Year, so I can't even make a start. Make sure you check your bills carefully!

Hi smidge
I'm waiting for this to happen to me as the money still hasn't come out of my PayPal for my previous order 5 weeks ago! So no idea when it's going to come out! Not that I have the money any more anyway :bag:

My first sensor to fail
At 5 am this morning, my sensor just stopped working. Still has 3 days to go!
Anyone experience this? Did Abbott replace it?
Also on the subject of marks being left on the skin..... When applying my new sensor a few mins ago, I was cleaning my other arm with the swap. I was doing this in front of the mirror. I still have a round mark from my previous sensor 2 weeks ago. I never noticed this until today.

Yes, I have had Abbott replace a couple of sensors due to them falling off early. They will want the failed one returning so hang on to it. Is it still stuck on firmly or has the filament come out of your arm?

i removed the sensor. It stopped working. I then left it for a few hours and tried to scan a few times but each time it wasnt reading. Then I tried again after 30 mins and the scanner just said replace sensor. I removed it and put a new one on.
It was just like the senser ended but 3 days early.

End of the fourth sensor and no noticeable reaction on my arm. Still stuck down strongly and evidence of a minor bleed on insertion.

Mines a bit red, no more than usual.
Put mine in yesterday morning, activated yesterday evening, and about 2mmol out

Happy New Year. Thanks all for your info. I have started a notebook today with serial numbers, lot numbers, dates sensor started, ended. I am also going to log how early I insert the sensor before activating, as recommended here.

I have just had a week in the French Alps, walking in the snow. My BG levels at altitude were crazy and the Libre even with problems was still useful. When I was very high or low, it was way out compared to the OMnipod. One day Libre indicated 17.2 With a level arrow and the Omnipod 14.5. Could have been dangerous if I had corrected for 17.0 Has anyone else had this problem. I shall report these facts to Abbott next week.

Overall, in spite of dodgy readings when I am out of target which happens often, I have learnt a great deal about my diabetes. Monday night we have a Pumpers Get Together in the pub and it will be the first one since some of us got the Libre. It will be good to compare notes.

I was very interested in Abbott gleaning info from our downloads. Chance would be a fine thing, as I haven't managed to download yet on my temperamental computer

I have just received a new Reader very promptly as mine wouldn't work suddenly on the up arrow.

Having inserted a new sensor this afternoon I am surprised and pleased to report that on first check, the sensor was within 0.2 of the blood test reading. Surprisingly good.

Mines still 2 mmol out after 24 hours. Everytime I have a new sensor it is accurate for a few hours then goes out for up to 48

Put no. 6 in on Tuesday, activated Wednesday. It's still a bit jittery but not more that 1.0 out and spot on at times. Hopefully will get into it's stride tomorrow. No skin reactions or bad marks so far.

Hi Smidge,

I thought the same thing has happened to me, however when I checked again I realised that they hadn't taken the money for the previous sensors.

Thanks @colsan I think you might be right. I've looked back over invoices and I think there might be one from mid November that they didn't charge for - if that's the case, I 'm guessing they've had a system issue and the November charge has gone through at the same time as the December one. I expect a lot of people will get a nasty shock when they next order and get charged twice!

My 6th sensor is pretty accurate - it read low for several hours, but has got itself working now. It always seems to be a bit adrift first thing in the morning, but is then correct half hour later.

I'm getting quite a bit of itching on the skin near the sensor, but it seems to be from the half-crescent mark left by the last sensor that was on that arm - so the sensor before last! That's pretty worrying, because that was only ever a slight mark and I actually thought it had completely healed but it has started itching since this sensor has gone on next to it - not overlapping, but just to the edge of it. The bad mark on the other arm is getting better, but I've been using Hc45 on it - it doesn't itch or hurt, but just looks awful. I think I'll try putting Hc45 on the skin near the current sensor to see if I can stop the irritation, but I'm doubtful I'll be able to leave this one on the full 2 weeks.

Incidentally, I've had a short response from Abbott to the email I sent them about the skin irritation. They say they are investigating further but that they have definitely not changed the adhesive at all. They then advise me to see a doctor to see what might be the cause!

Hi Emmotha, I wonder if it's the trauma to the area as the big needle goes in that causes your IFG to be different from your BG for a while and that the sensor is actually reading your IFG correctly? I'm pretty sure my BG goes a bit higher the day after I've attached a new sensor.

Back on the low carbs after a Christmas of gluttony and disregard, and this is what I like to see. Back to flat profiles...

I woke up this morning, reached for the Libre, and - it had run out of juice without warning. Desperate scrabble in the dark to find charger without waking spouse - and the RELIEF when it plugged in ... For a moment faced the possibility of being without it - NO, NO, NO aaaaaaghhhh !!!!
