Type 2's: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning?

I was 6.4 going to bed last night and 6.9 this morning. Meh. I had good food yesterday so am eyeing the new cough bottle suspiciously. Robitussin sugar-free. Maybe there is something dodgy in it. Should I just hang an onion around my neck today and toss the cough bottle? Got my annual blood test next week and think it will be a whopper at this rate.
Liked wth the usual qualifier. As the HbA1c takes account of 3 months worth of ups and down a few recent highs shouldn't have too much impact. Had my bloods taken for mine pre Xmas, just got to make appt wth practice nurse now.
PS - could just be due to the cold, rather than the meds

Thanks, Jan, you're right. There must be some kind of cooties causing the cough which could also cause the raised BG. Will try not to let it get me down if my result is higher. We can all only do our best.

Thanks to the lovely person who told me about the GI & GL Counter. I've found one of my favourite snacks should be ok - peaches in juice are both low GI and GL. I used to dip into the jar for a slice or two which satisfied my.munchies. also explains why I got away wth my lovely juicy cox apple despite it being bigger than average. Thanks once again :):):):):):)

Before dinner 4.7 for a change
After 2 hours 5.6
Fasting 6.0
Again another 6 but i got two readings different so i dint do the sugary drink check on machine
I will do that today though

Not a great day number wise, 7.4 upon waking up. Think that I've been fighting a sinus infection for the last couple of days, might explain the numbers, but I also introduced legumes in to my diet last night, so I might have boosted my carb intake for the day past my normal levels.

It's -24C outside this morning - Will try to send MikeD some cooler weather

We also had a bit of a storm front move through last night, had a 40cm snow drift along one side of the driveway.

Dropped from 15C to 5 since breakfast but feels colder. Quite a balmy temp towards yours. Snow does look lovely tho :).

I was at 8.1 today but still.getting over this bug so expected it to be a bit higher as I'm still running a temp
Hope you better soon. My throat not so bad now. Just been resting and my bean biryani lunch took me from 4.9 to 8.4 @ 1 and 2hrs. 6.6 at 3. Normally doesn't go more than the 2. Don't normally test at one hr either but felt I needed to. Fry up for tea called for I think

I quite like it myself. It's a nice break from the summer heat (we range from 27- 34C in our hottest months).

Couldn't cope with either. Taken my gloves off and fingers frozen. Even with thermal, supposedly ski gloves, my fingers go numb

I'll take the cold over the extreme heat.... I fair much better in the cooler temps. Usually a normal pair of thermal mitts or gloves is all I need for extended activity outside.

I've got friends that don't fair as well, and have purchased a pair of these..... Rated for extreme cold, -40 or greater....

Another load of tripe from both my meters today (Codefree and Accu Chek Mobile)

The Codefree ranged from 5.2 to 6.6 with 2 readings at 6.6 and 2 at 5.2. At the same time the Accu Chek ranged from 4.8 to 6.8, with 2 readings at 4.8 and one at 5.6.

This was before lunch and I would expect mid 5's normally, but it was an early lunch so could have been high 5's. This is getting ridiculous. :banghead:
I have ended up not recording any reading at all as I have no idea what to record and don't want to skew my averages, either upwards or downwards. I suppose I could average the whole lot!

I have stopped using my codefree as I don't trust it. Back on the accu chek nano in which I have a bit more faith. Frustrating isn't it? :bored:

Definitely think I have a bug now. 6.4 before lunch and I only had eggs for breakfast. Something fishy going on for sure o_O

I am beginning to think I may go back to my Accu Chek Mobile. I've been cross checking them for the last few days. They very rarely show similar readings. Yes, it's very frustrating.

Definitely sounds like you have a bug. Hope it goes quickly.
