  • Did anyone watch motor mouth Katie Hopkins ..My Fat LIfe....she gained nearly 4 stone eating junk food and loads of it to try and prove that obese people do get fat because of what they eat and can loose weight just by excercise and diet so
  • the next step is to loose the weight she put on
  • Had to agree with a lot of what she said especially when she went out to the US to see what they were eating and it seems the obese just live on fast food the bigger and greasier the food is the more of it they eat She was actually reduced to tears when she saw two children eating the food in the diner as she could see how they would end up overweight. She was told by a Harley Street specialist that at 8st 10lb her normal weight that she was a bit underweight but was extremely fit. Just like I mentioned on a thread a while ago when you are skinny it is much easier to loose to much weight than to gain it and she had not reckoned on that and found it really difficult and when she finally began to gain the weight it mostly went on her tummy

Some overweight people are that way because of beyond their control things such as psychological problems, certain medical conditions or the side effects of certain medications. The vast bulk of overweight people however are overweight because they eat rubbish, they eat far to much and/or they are physically lazy.

Did anyone watch Benefits:To Fat To Work? on Channel 5? They were even having their wedding paid for by the DWP. Celebrating losing 2 pounds at weight watchers with a kebab and ice cream.

Let's not forget insulin resistance. Following the NHS plenty-o-carbs Eatwell Plate will lead to weight gain, carb cravings and more weight gain for people with insulin resisitance.

Oh dear, that's not good  I didn't know about the channel 5 programme, tbh, I would tend to steer clear of these type of programme's.

RRB

The thing that annoys me about these types of programmes is that of course they show obese people to be greedy and lazy because that is what they set out to do. Do you think if they followed a fat person who worked hard, walked a few miles everyday and ate 'normally' they would be included in the programme? Of course they wouldn't! People love to watch the 'they are to blame' type programmes, that's why they are made.

My son and I watched the secret eater programmes a few years back. I was outraged because when I do a food diary I include absolutely everything, yet they gave the impression that all fat people are fat because they won't admit to eating too much! As my son said to me at the time "Even if they followed you for a month Mum, you wouldn't be included in the programme because it's about secret eaters and you're not one." Of course he was right. It would be good to see programmes about people who are not to blame for their obesity to balance things out a bit for a change.

It's cheap tv in my opinion, all so called reality shows are best avoided, I don't watch drivel particularly if K Hopkins or K Price is involved.

Not a fan or follower of this person ....I was aware of this food experiement ......but do not in theory support it at all

Just another excuse for this very sad, sad person to put herself on centre stage with little thought or consideration for anyone else and their history/ current situation.

Yes I watched that

Personally I try not judge people. I understand there are always cases where individuals aren't able to help themselves or do not fall into the "norm". But if we get on the defensive every time someone speaks up, what is the way forward? T2 as we are al aware is recognised as a health time bomb that is very much in the ascendency due to modern lifestyle. I recall a TV interview with actress Joan Collins a while back, stating she was amazed how many people kill themselves or create health problems by the excess they put in their mouths, whether it be food, alcohol, smoke or drugs ( the point being this is nothing new). For me the gate is now open and the horse bolted, all I can do is learn to manage things as best as I can and learn from the likes of the people on this forum. However, for my children, grandchildren and friends I will spread the message - proactively and with a positive slant, because avoiding future health problems is a positive. It is not so long ago a celebrity chef launched healthy eating message in schools, to be faced with parents in denial feeding their loved ones fast food through the school fence. Same message put over in a different way. This lady is a loud mouth and has made several amazingly stupid remarks in the past and on this issue but the message is good and the fact we are talking about it is good. I should mention following T2 diagnosis I have lost 3 stone mainly by following the sensible advice on this forum, whilst I didn't quite fit into Mrs Hopkins stereo type, I am honest enough to admit I do recognise bits and wish someone had shaken my cage a few years earlier. Wishing you all a happy and healthy new year.

It appears that the BBC are 'doing' rich people, and the other channels 'do' fat and poor, wont give either house room. And if the gobby hateful cow came on tv I switch over likewise the liar Cameron.
As for me, I never ate 'junk' food didn't do pop sweets or crisps either. I had a hysterectomy and for some inexplicable reason put on 2 stone making me 12 stone and then caught diabetes.

Sounds like a pretty vile program.

I wonder if Katie Hopkins will end up with a permanently damaged metabolism. 4 stone rapid gain, followed by attempts to rapidly lose it - sounds like a perfect recipe for creating weight and metabolism issues...

I remain unconvinced (even by the many benefits shown by the Newcastle Diet) that rapid, severe, weight loss is a positive move in the long term (decades, rather than months and years).

Maybe off topic, but it seems to be for those that have done it.

the decade and years are the issues I see, it's fine to lose the weight and there are many ways, a very few keep the weight off and this is the problem.
the ND doesn't teach you how to eat a way that is satisfying and wont make you fat again from carb slip to old ways of eating

Oddly enough, if you have done it, correctly, it would.
Google?

Usual celeb for no reason. She hates people who name their children after places, yet her child is called India. racist scum as far as I can see.
