Hmmm I use accu check fastclix, which has six needles in a rotatable barrel, I use each needle about 10 times, and my readings are ok. By which I mean if I'm being good readings are ok and if I've strayed readings show it . Are you on lchf regime and are you accurately eating the right amount of carbs to protein to fat ? For your bmi.

Hi Clive. That Accu-Chek fastclicx was the same as I used before going on to the new monitor which uses a single needle pricker. I was interested in your reply where you say you use the same needle 10 times over as I know I read somewhere that could cause contamination for the next result.
I just remembered where I saw the thread regarding the use of needles, it has varied responses.

As for the lchf, it is not as simple for me as I had a heart attack at the same time they told me I could be diabetic, so sticking to a strict lchf would not be good for my heart yet on the other hand eating carbs and fibre for my heart wouldn't be good for my B S levels, CATCH 22.
I am trying to balance the 2 out as best I can and next week should be interesting as I have an appointment with the Cardiac Dietician and later in the week an appointment with the Diabetes Dietitian.........................I wonder who will win.

I think I've found out why I was getting the same high readings of 7.9. This afternoon I picked up my latest batch of needles and strips for my new monitor which I've only used once. I'm trying very hard here to word this without going into a novel about it, so here's the very short version...............

Old system had a 6 needles barrel which you inserted into the pricker and rotated every time you used it.
New system has single use needles which need replacing after each use. I thought the new ones worked the same as the old ones and therefore used the same needle 3 times. It may be that I was getting the same reading due to contamination. I might be wrong but after changing the needle I got a reading of 5.8. i will keep checking and see what happens.

I think you will find most of use the same needles over and over again. I also use the Fastclix with a drum of 6 lancets, but I don't rotate them until the needle stops drawing blood properly. I know then it is blunt.

Also, you don't have to change your lancet gadget because you have a new meter. You can use any lancet gadget with any meter.

Last reading today after dinner 6.9
Oh alright Mr Contour, posting more than once in a day ? Meter obsessive? Us commoners have to stick with our Accucheck handouts lol ? I think you should upgrade to good ole insulin and multi test and show off your blingy meter lol.

FINALLY.... Hey guys not been ignoring you all. My internet connection blipped out on me yesterday evening but didn't realise til I put laptop on - as I use WiFi at home instead of phone signal my poor little phone kept trying to use it. Reset the router then the App (or D-UK website went down, wouldn't load) been trying on and off all day but didn't realise my internet had gone again...... Morning" guys, 5.8 and 6.8 at bed. Still running high, tho feeling better than I was... I'll catch up on your posts now.... (using phone connection :D)

I was going to press the like button Clive but is it safe and hygenic to re-use finger lancets ?

Morning 6.1 this morning. I am happy with that. I did 40 laps of the pool yesterday. Pre-dinner I was 4.8 and at 2 hrs 4.8. I think Mike D this confirms your exercise theory.

Today I will probably just go shopping and walk around the mall. Olivia has to get school supplies.
Curious, you have a pool yet walk around it? went shopping today but only cos I didn't want to get the bus home and back whilst waiting for car to be MOT'd. Knackered me out but didn't do much for bs ;). Tried 3 coffee bars b4 I found one that did soya latte:eek:

Fallen to 4.8 this morning.
A calorie deficit diet always forces my BG down.
The few pounds I put on over christmas are going again.

I've realised, although I've been having a shake for breakfast, (had some left over), I actually think they are more calories than my ryvita and cheese used to be. They do fill me up until the early afternoon though.

And I succumbed to the 'cheese cravings' last night, I had a little bit of lime and chilli cheese left, just looking lost in the fridge when I got the skimmed milk for my coffee before bed. Still once it's gone, I won't be buying more for a while.
Love my cheese - not sure if I'd like lime & chilli unless the lime dissipates chilli heat
