Thanks, my readings were much higher when I started taking Humulin 1. I have not yet been able to go on a low carb diet. I have only recently (in the last 3 months) realised the significance with carbohydrates. I was under the impression that sugar is the problem. I joined this site hoping to find some information about reducing carbs.

Welcome to the group. I also used to think it was primarily sugar that was the problem. After hanging around here with these fine folks, I learned that the big evil is highly refined and processed foods (cheaply produced simple carbohydrates).

I was diagnosed in May of 2014, and had an A1C of 8.4, was put on metformin, found this site in June and educated myself in the ways of LCHF with the help of everyone here. Stopped my meds (on my own) in September. My last Dr. Appointment was in late November, got 'the talk' about dropping my meds (she was not happy ). Then she looked at my A1C results and it was 5.2.... To which she said I can stay off my meds.

BIG thank you to everyone on here for the great advice and support!!!

I'm feeling great, loosing weight and very happy!!

We'll done Marko. Didn't realise you'd gotten off the meds so quickly. And thank you too :)

Bit late posting my fasting today 7.6
I've discovered something new as well. I finally stopped using a sweetner in my tea. My tastes have changed a lot these past few months the plus is I'm getting slightly lower readings in the day....so they must impact on bs somewhat
Sympathies with all of you that are still poorly. We do need some sun

I cut mine in half for double the amount. Easy to do as well :)
I remember you mentioning that. Meant to ask if it was these ad it only seems a small square on the end. Keep forgetting to try them..... It says an EXACT 15 seconds. Are they really so sensitive?

which sweeteners did you use? Did they have carbs in them?

I've noticed the Canderel I've got say they are a sucralose based sweetener and contain lactose. No calories, and no longer have pkt to check for carbs. But isn't 'lose SUGAR? often wondered how that works. Don't use them for.myself ad daughter has found they upset her tum..... Not the lactose as her coffee is awash wth milk ;)

Spot on 5 this morning- bedtime was 4.9 so I'm ok with that thank you!
Well, this morning was my last dose of forxiga - meds free from tomorrow morning :p
Going to be interesting few weeks seeing how it goes.....
Wow!:) that's good you're coming off the meds @kimbo1962! Brilliant fasting numbers as well. :)

I wasn't too sure at first @Adelle0607 - but now seeing it as a positive! My last hba1c end of October was down to 38 and gp suggested in December trying without, I realised the other day it means I've really done well in just over 6 months since I started this journey!
