I am Type 2 diabetic and went for my annual medical check some months ago. The practice nurse was so pleased with my blood results, she couldn't believe them. I had to get another blood test for all the usuals and go back for the results. Again, the results were the same and nurse was well chuffed. In that, she cut my Metformin by half, down to one in the morning and one at night. Now it seems that my BG is stabalising around 7.3 to 7.4. By that I mean when i get out of bed in the morning, I test my BG and it is around 7.3. I then have breakfast and test again about four hours later and it is about 7.4. Today for lunch I had cheese sandwich followed by pineapple (it was delicious). I tested my blood about four hours later and found it to be 8.8.
I guess the higher BG level is due to the pineapple. However, what seems to be my normalish level of 7.3 to 7.4 is still on the high side, my question is should I revert back to my original dosage of Metformin?
I called the doctor to ask this question, but couldn't get past the receptionist. She told me the nurse says I should stick to the reduced dose, but I'm not sure.
