@giverny HELP

Just about .. No gas .. No double glazing ..no central heating .. And now almost no roof :sorry:
But the wife loves it here :confused:
and from what you have said no money left after the heating bills

I concur with @robert72 try and create another user and see if that works ok. If it does then it is your profile.

So what can be done if it's our profile? (this was what I suspected when I said I'd prefer to PM Giv about it earlier). How would this happen?

If something happened to the user database whilst the server was writing to it, it could get corrupted. Or bad blocks on a hard drive. I believe they also moved to a new shiny server recently - maybe a fault during copying.

I've asked around and the DB is all in tip top condition and the hard drives were checked prior to use and have been checked since and they're both fine. I'll refresh the user cache and see if that improves anything.

Whilst it seems to be working at normal speed for me, I'm finding that some new posts are taking time to appear - I'll reply to something, come back a few minutes later to find several more posts in between what I'm replying to and my own post (and no they are not appearing while I am typing - I get notifications about those). Sometimes there is even a reply to a post that I haven't yet 'received'.

I am finding the same thing although I understand that whilst I'm typing a reply (and I'm not the fastest typer) that someone else could be typing theirs out at the same time and replying a nano second before me. Therefore mine would be submitted after the other response.

My alerts are very hit and miss. I get some but not others.

I've no problems otherwise (apart from constantly having to sign in)
Yep, here too. This morning I had 42 alerts but only about 12 showed up. When I clicked on some of them I found other posts that weren't even in the alerts list, so I probably had over 60 instead of 42.

That's different as I said and I get the messages about those while typing. An example earlier was @DeejayR replying to a message posted by @Bluetit1802 - and quoting the message - before BT's original message had appeared!

Hi Friends, just a quick Bobby update, he's home feeling sorry for himself and still very groggy, lost half his tail as feared, doesn't like the bucket he's got to wear for the next 10 days to stop him chomping on the stump managed to get it off the minute we walked in the door, had to put on a smaller collar to hold it , had to take out a mortgage to pay for it but he's worth every penny, he looks really strange with a shaven bottom mind they did clip his coat a bit on his legs and body left the coat on the back of his neck and head so he reminds me of Lenny The Lion, maybe in a couple of weeks I'll get to clip him off properly.
Oh and the site is still playing up.

So pleased he's doing well ... You can get inflatable collers to replace the bucket ! If he cannot cope with the bucket :arghh:

Can you imagine being in the dogs shoes, not that they wear shoes but you know what I mean. They get taken to a vet who then mutilates their hairstyle, chops off half a tail and then sticks a plastic bucket with no bottom in it over their heads. Then we turn round and in a baby voice say things like "aww you look so cute", "don't worry babykins, it won't be on for long" "we're going home now baby, then you can have a nice sleep".
Firstly, the bloody dog can't understand a word you're saying and secondly, have you ever tried sleeping with a bucket round yer neck?;)
The dogs probably thinking "what have I done to deserve this".:confused: Poor thing.

I never let my hounds wear the buckets ... The infatable colours are kinder .. But then I can just tell my hounds not to touch and they will not touch the area.

My dogs have always used the lampshades as weapons or tools to bash open doors. They seem to like them. But there again, they are all boxers, so a bit challenged in the brain department.

I'm still missing loads of new posts that aren't showing up in the "Alerts". When I do click on an alert and then reply to the post, I sometimes find anything from 1-10 other posts that I didn't even know about. Someones probably taken the time to post and are probably wondering why they haven't been responded to.

@Enclave.
Please tell me where to get those collars, and no he didn't deserve it, he was smothered in urine burn when rescued and the worst affected part was his tail, ears and nose, both the ears and nose have regrown some hair but his tail has remained bald and the skin has always been dry and friable, he has hurt it a couple of times before and it has healed fine but this time it just didn't want to so the only thing to do was have the delicate piece removed, I hated to do it but he was obviously in some pain so it had to be done.
