FREESTYLE LIBRE ON SALE!!!!

Because I reported a faulty sensor, reading between 60% and 100% high compared to blood tests using my old meter, Abbott sent me a pack of Optium test strips to directly compare sensor and blood results. I haven't received a replacement sensor yet but I have compared blood tests using my old meter, new meter and Libre. Results are -

Tuesday One Touch Ultra 6.3 PuraX 6.8 Libre 8.3
Wednesday One Touch Ultra 8.8 PuraX 7.6 Libre 8.8
Thursday One Touch Ultra 7.8 PuraX 7.9 Libre 9.6

All readings taken at 07:00 splitting a single blood sample three ways.

Not sure what that proves except perhaps that none of these meters are particularly accurate.

Did anyone else getting a skin reaction noticed painful lymph nodes under their armpits? I have got irritated lymph nodes there, first only noticed at the gym, recently more often also outside the gym. Now without sensor it's becoming better again..;s

Are those Libre scans or Libre blood tests? I would guess the strips they sent you are to test the Libre scan against it's blood test result.

Applied yet another new sensor and this time (for the first time), the application hurt. Following up, I can see that there was quite a bit of blood, and it looks like I caught a bit of muscle on putting it in. Wonder how long it will survive, or whether I'll feel pain and have to give up on it. It's the first one that I've noticed I'm wearing....

If you look closely, you can see blood around the sticky tape.

Robert72 - those are all blood tests. I've now got a replacement sensor and two I had ordered, but haven't fitted one yet pending some advice from my DSN about the results and problems so far. A reply from Abbott might be useful too.
Tim2000s - I had blood like that when I applied sensor number 4, the one that didn't work at all. Does yours work?

I have found it useful when dealing with Abbott about inaccurate sensors, to be able to compare both scans and blood test results using the Libre strip reader.

I had one sensor that bled on insertion, but only for about a minute .The blood came out of the moulded hole in the centre of the sensor, but didn't seep into the adhesive like yours. There was a bit more of a sharp pain on insertion but it didn't last.

Over priced and looks like a lot of trouble, more likely to end up in the fancy pointless gadget draw than used every day, the sensor looks massive i cant imagine being able to shower every day without problems, is there nothing better out there or in development. Hopefully it maybe be available in Poundland by the end of the year, i'd give it a try then. A breakthrough in technology but not in design.

Edit: I eat my words, i'm pricking my finger about 8 times a day now anyway and getting brassed off with it, i think it looks good and would help with control big time. I want one. wish it wasn't so expensive. I do wish the smart insulin would hurry up out of the labs though.

Well I'm in a weird situation now. I'm just about healed up from my last skin reaction. It took a little under two weeks and makes me glad that I removed my last sensor a few days in having tried Opsite underneath.

Well my trip to the Endio today went...erm okay I guess. He's taken me off all insulin. I've got no idea if I'm now wasting money wearing a Libre.

Fabulous bit of trolling. Not overpriced compared to cgms, and incredibly useful for managing your hba1c down. Heading into the fives for me now. Even with some of the issues I preferti be with it than without.

Maybe you should try it before knocking it.

Have to agree with Tim. Even with all the issues and skin reactions it has changed my understanding of my diabetes. In a much better place now.

Can anyone help I have a bit of brain blockage whilst relaxing on holiday in 28 degrees.
I had a replacement Libre meter a while ago and probably haven't used its meter as I use the Omnipod. Today I tried to insert an Abbot
Freestyle Lite and it wouldnt go in. Is that the correct test strip?

Incidently loads of swimming with Opsite over the sensor and it is still working fine. Sometimes it is erratic, but what's new

Tim of course. Thanks for the reminder. I have Optimum with me too.. You have been much quicker than Abbott as I anticipated.

Has anybody who was suffering from skin irritations had any success with any solutions? I am keen to get back to using the Libre but am paranoid about another skin irritation.

Well my latest sensor is proving to be one of the more variable ones. Its spent hours when I've been asleep showing LO, when I went to bed and woke up at around 7.5, and this evening it is giving me this wisdom:

It's also positioned slightly differently on my arm and as a result is lifting away from the sticky tape:

My current sensor started badly for 2 days, reading anything up to 2 mm low, but then settled in to surprising accuracy.

I wish they were all so accurate - it just seems like a lottery.

Yes - I'm on my third one over compeed and no reactions at all so far (which is a massive improvement as they were properly eating big holes into my arms before) other than a teeny tiny patch where I went over the edge of the compeed last time.

I guess it might not last forever, but am pretty optimistic about this being my solution...
