Insulin pump

Over the last week or so I have been considering getting a insulin pump i think this would be a good idea as I don't have to have my slow acting insulin in 2 lots i have it morning and night (24units night) and (15 units int the morning from what I like about the insulin pump it is can be delivered as a basal rate I like the look of the accu chek combo system has any got this pump and could tell what they think of it
 
I use the Medtronic Veo, my first pump, and think it is wonderful. Setting different basal rates throughout the day makes a great difference to overall control.

I think those who have experience of a particular pump would mostly continue with that make. I certainly intend doing so.

I'm sure those using the Accu Chek would be as happy with it as I am with the Veo. It is a matter of choice. I think the Accu Chek can be used while swimming but, as swimming affects my eyes and skin, I tend to steer clear of swimming pools.
 
It s your rate covering your background BG, as opposed to that due to food.

Have you actually been approved for a pump or is it just that you would like one?
If you have a look in the pump forum you will find most of the pumps used in there :)
 
No I am go the diabetes cliic on Tuesday and I am going to to talk to the diabetes team but I did reject getting a pump in October but I now ihave come round and in October my diabetes nuse said it would be a good idea for me to have one

Once you've discussed things and get approved for a pump they will go through all the pump options that are available to you, the pre-pump support is fantastic and you will continue to receive this support once you've started pumping. As CarbsRok says have a good read around the pump section of the forum for information.
 
But if the diabetic nuse said it a good idea for me to have a pump do u think I will get one
 
The Accuchek Insight pump is the latest model ( don't get palmed off with the old combo pump) and it is the best!! (not an Accuchek employee!!!-but had Roche pump for 4.5 years) i love it.
 
With the Insight pump it isn't just hourly rates that can be set. You can have them as minute as 15 minute ones.

It is absolutely the best. However if you need a cgm then it has not got capabilities at the moment so you would have to look at a standalone cgm.

To me.. I had a separate cgm (wouldn't have another) but would not change to a different pump just for a cgm.

The only thing I find difficult to log and remember about the Insight pump is that eveything has been going out of sunc.. So everyday at the moment there is a thought of doing something with the pump..

Ie today the cartridge went low;
Tomorrow is set and tube change:
Down to 40% on the pump battery so that will need change on Tuesday;
Wednesday another set change etc.
tuesday will be a handset charge as well.

As much as I try to sync my changes as much as possible the smaller batteries, the smaller cartridges are getting themselves out of sync with sets and tube changes.

Everyday at the moment there is something to faff around with. I never had that with the old combo accuchek pump and please don't let it put you off but this pump for me is a constant faff.... Even if doing everything on the same day on a Monday.. Two weeks after it will all be out of sync....and everything being done on different days.

I think this aspect is the biggest downfall to the Insight..
