I have just been told I need to start on victoza, I am a type 2 diabetic for 6 years. I just cannot lose weight no matter what I try, apparently this helps both diabetes and weight management, just a bit worried by the side effects, so if anyone has any knowledge of this I would appreciate some feedback. I am 49 and until recently have had very good blood readings

I'm not a Vicotoza user but I'm interested in the diet approach you took prior to the move onto Victoza. Was it a low-carb diet following advice on this forum? To be honest you can't easily fail to lose weight if you reduce the carbs enough unless you have an unusual medical condition, on steroids etc.

I can maintain a steady weight but just cannot lose any, I count carbs eat lots of veg, steam everything, only use whole grain bread, I am at a total loss what else to do. Its either the victoza or bariatric surgery and I will not take the surgery route.

Hi. Although whole grain bread is better than white as it is absorbed more slowly it still has the same carbs so you need to keep it down. Also veg needs to be non-root where possible as root veg is high in carbs. Carrots are best raw as the carbs are then fibrous and not so easily absorbed. Try to keep the carbs below 150gm/day and much less if you can do that. Sounds like you have the right approach. Keep at it.

Could I ask if you have had any side effects from the Victoza, I am a bit worried about the warnings about nausea
