Hello, I have just received my date for going onto the insight pump.
As from the 12th April I will be pumping insulin☺
Can anyone tell me how long do the batteries last?
Do you need lots of different cases etc. . For wearing and carrying the pump and the meter?
Do you use any sprays, creams for removing black marks left by the sticky patches?
Thought that I might start buying for my new arrival lol.

The batteries in mine last a month or so, but varies depending on pump and usage. I have one pouch I made myself, but 95% of the time I just have the pump tucked in my bra and the meter in the case it came with, but some people like to use different cases!

I don't use anything for the stickiness of my pump but I do for the libre sensor, I got samples of lift plus free from opus healthcare and still using the freebies up, but I don't need it for the pump.

Good luck!

Hey @lisacp I can't comment on battery life as I have a different pump,

I keep my pump in my pocket, clipped to my waistband, clipped under my bra or tucked into my bra but then you get 'square boob' and it's not a great look.. Depends what you're wearing :)
if you have a remote for it and don't need to access the actual pump you can get bands to go around your body to put your pump in, I got one its really comfortable but the remote for mine doesn't do what I need it to so had to keep taking the bleedin' thing out so stopped using it for now lol xx

Hmmmm square mark lol

Turn the pump up the other way so that tube is at the top or the bottom and not across.

The lycra tv shopping channel bras which can be bought in loads of markets cheaply are great for pumps, purses mobile phones and boobs. Wash well and keep their shape. The higher waist lycra knickers are also good for putting a pump in and keeping it safe....STV. No need to spend a fortune when there's stuff that's just as good cheaply

Hey @iHs I've tried it all ways, still get square/rectangle boob lol if I'm wearing a jumper or jacket you can't tell but in most tops I wear you can see, unless I stuff it to the side a bit, sometimes that works lol

On my arm for my insight. No problems at all... Although I rotate arms weekly in summer otherwise I get white marks.

They give a case for Insight handset which was (probably still is) too small, but Accuchek are aware of this.

There is a brilliant clip with Insight pump that actually lodges in to the pump and it can be worn two ways horizontal or vertical. Mine us worn vertically downward from my upper arm.

There was no skins for the actual pump when I got mine last year.

I don't buy anything the tubigrip for wearing in my arm is on repeat prescription. I cut it and wear each piece for 3 days and then it goes in the bin, although I guess the tubigrip is washable.

I've never caught tubes or pump wearing on my arm.

I don't use any removal stuff at all.

I know you've quoted that you wear yours on your arm which is what I'd like to give a go at, so you obviously use s longer tube to go into your stomach fixed cannula , am I correct ?

100cm tube
6mm cannula

Cannula is always in my bum.
Pump always on arm
Have posted pictures before.. Thought people would get bored with seeing.

Looks a simple enough set up I suppose, I see the pump is supported but I think personally I'd be worried about it slipping through

Its trapped between 2 layers of tubigrip and also has a clip from the pump that clips on to the bottom layer of the tubigrip. There is no chance of it going anywhere!!!

Yes, its on show when I just wear my sports tops... But when bending down gardening I never feel it oressing in my stomach ir dangling around neck or rubbing against my arm. I don't wear bras.. Just sports tops in summer with skorts and lots of layers in winter!!

Going to bed I never have to worry where the pump is or about taking it off when changing clothes. As I don't wear nightwear it is perfect for me having it on my arm.

Often when people first start using a pump, the dsn will just start everyone off on the same basal rate for every hour, leaving it up to the person to test bg levels frequently to make sure that levels dont go low or really high which is ok during the day but not so ok in the night when going to bed. With this in mind, if you tend to eat some carb before bed to try to stop bg falling to hypo state, then do tell the dsn as then they should be able to adjust the basal down a bit as opposed to leaving it the same. The more info you can give, the better things will be when you get home and start playing with your new 'toy'. Eventually, you will be able to fine tune the pump settings to keep you ok and Roche are very good anyway so any problems, ring them up and someone will be able to sort you out.

Also keep a very detailed diary for about a month on doses, foods, wxercises, shifts and readings....and do take 3am and a few 5am readings and log them. This will help them to realise if you get DP and help to get your settings better...

Hello Victorri, great news we will be going onto the insight within a couple of days of each other.
I too have been looking for reviews, you tube clips etc for info on the pump.
If you Google the insight there is online training for said pump.
I thought this was really useful and gave me ideas for questions that I want to ask when I get my pump.
Let me know if you find it useful.x

If you are in UK. The best pouch for your pump, is one I got from Asda in Liverpool. It is actually an iphone arm band. I use mine to fix my pump (a Medtronic veo) to my leg when I am sleeping. It only cost £4.00. You don't need specialist bags or cases, which are very expensive. Just check out Amazon or similar sites. You may find what you are looking for, for much cheaper.

Can't wait to try out the Insight in June!! :) So exciting!! :) Please let me know how you get on with it. I like the look of the small pouches you can buy for the Insight which clips to the side (or middle) of your bra so it either hangs under your arm or off the middle part of your bra. Don't think I would want it on my arm. The fact it has a separate handset means it can be tucked right out of sight without having to go routing for it when you want to give a bolus which is the main attraction for me. :)
