I'm watching the VE day concert. It mentioned cities that were blitzed during the war but no mention of towns.

My own town of Clydebank was blitzed and hundreds of people were killed with hundreds seriously injured. Only seven houses were undamaged.

I remember my parents saying that the government kept this quiet at the time and I was just wondering how many more towns in Britain were blitzed with little or no mention in the press.

I bet there many towns that got hit I grew up in a town called Braintree in Essex that got hit because off the silk mill

I watched the tail end but we've recorded it so my husband can watch it as he's at work tonight. We'll sit down and watch it tomorrow afternoon.

It bought back some wonderful memories of my mum and dad dancing and singing to most of these songs
My farther was a tool maker during the war and was not allowed to enlist, so of a night he became a fireman in the AFShe always said that during the blitz of Birmingham if the bombers would have come one more night that Birmingham would have burned as there was no more water to be pumped the mains had been destroyed and the canals were empty, glad I wasn't around to see it

My dad was a fireman in Clydebank. He saw some dreadful sights but wouldn't talk about them. My mother told me he had to clear a bombed air raid shelter that had been full of people.
