Hi all you pumpers,

I have been using a pump for almost six months and an app to record blood sugars, exercise and medication for a little less than that. My record keeping is much better than it was (as is my control) but I am not too happy with the app. I am using DiaConnect. At first I was very please with it. But as I have been exercising and getting fitter, I keep needing to reduce my basal. Unfortunately the app doesn't keep a record of past basal rates. It can be done manually but it's pretty awkward. Also, although it has some nice graphs, it doesn't have a graph for basal rates that shows how they relate to other stuff. Without both basal history and basal graphs, I don't really feel I am giving my endo the information he needs. I can see that our appointment is going to be all,"Yes buts".

Pump users - your best app? I don't mind paying for it, but I don't want to pay then find it doesn't have the features I need.

No app whatsoever for me.....

I use a Medtronic Minimed and my pump clinic simply uploads the information straight off the pump......

What pump are you using?

I would imagine most of the ones available to us in the UK have a similar function.....

If the clinic doesn't have the facility to upload you could certainly download information from the pump to the website and the print off your data......

for me though, my consultant doesn't need to see much data...........

they can get all my ratios and rates direct from the pump interface, as well as daily totals etc........

what information are they looking for that you cant tell them?

Thanks for your response.

I also use a Medtronic Minimed but it is probably an older model than yours. It's the Paradigm 715. Thing is, I live in Turkey and we get all the old stuff! I will probably have to wait another three or four years before the latest CGMs come to town! I went to the Turkish website for the software but it doesn't seem to be downloadable. Anyway, I will get my endo to pressure the Medtronic rep for the software, if that helps. But I would like to see the info myself beforehand.

I have no representation of how I have changed my basal rates over the last couple of months - as far as I know. Maybe it's embedded in my pump's memory but I can't see it. As far as I can see it only keeps the bolus history for 7 days.

I tend to use a pump bg monitoring book which has columns and rows for bg, carb, bolus, correction, basal, temp basal, set change. If I make a change to basal, i write the new one down and circle it so that I know that I have changed. This helps to keep my control of bg ok

I have never in fifty years of T1 ever managed to keep up handwritten records for more than a day or two! That's why I asked about apps. I am just too disorganized for written records. Or lazy.

I am getting "no results for diasend" on my search, so I guess not! :(
Hi Ruth have just done a check and it doesn't look as if Medtronic is compatible with diasend sorry :(

I am on the 754........

If you can get a hold of the carelink wireless usb dongle you should be able to transfer your data to the website......

the website is https://carelink.minimed.eu/patient/entry.jsp?bhcp=1

are you funded in turkey?

If your clinic cant get a hold of the dongle, you could contact Medtronic online and try and get one sent out.......
Thanks. I found the Carelink site. And I can use it!

Hello. I haven't got a pump but would really like one, I'm therefore keeping a tight check on my bg, carbs, ratios etc to show the hospital next month when I go back, in the hope they'll be swayed to consider me for a pump.
After downloading about 6 different apps the one I found to be the best by far is RapidCalc. It cost around £5.99 but is worth every penny - it tracks your basal, sets reminders to test you bg post meal, can set up 6 different carb ratios throughout the day, estimates hba1c, tells you approximate amount of insulin on board, calculates the recommended dose of fast acting insulin and of course the trends, graphs and statistics. It's fab and I'd really recommend it (and no I don't work for them incase this sounds like an advert - haha!)
