... the baseline accuracy is important to me because my aim is to get consistently under 5s and if my meter is reading consistently 0.7 high, for example, I could be hitting my target without realising it. ...

*plays devil's advocate*

Equally, you could be further above your target than your meter reading suggests.

Morning all 6.2 back to see the doctor this morning bs up and down like a yo yo and i got a nice surprise in the post yesterday a prescription for statin , have to have a little chat about that me thinks.

4.9 at the forsaken time in the morning, sleep was hard to find, at least we have a long weekend to look forward to.

Have a great time everyone.

Bah, 8.6 this morning. Last night away with work after a month living in hotels during the week, had curry out, up to 9.x before bed. Looking forward to getting home and getting back on track.

Haven't posted my readings for a while but Weds - 5.0, yesterday - 5.3 and 5.4 this morning

Another 5.1 this morning.

That now seems to be my "normal" level with my new regime of 100-150g carbs per day and my weight has also stopped going down so I'm more than happy with that as a balance :)

5.7 this morning despite only 5 hours sleep and after an evening of food and drink yesterday, albeit with plenty of physical activity (walked from Euston to the Strand and back and also the mile from my local station to home). I don't usually test before bed but last night I did and it was 5.4. Will do some before and after meal tests later today.

4.6 am, pre 4.5 and 5.6 post, spatchcock chicken cabbage and loads of sauerkraut, 2 home made chocs and a glass of white wine....
Wish you all good today.
Hj

Wow that's a lot of walking, where abouts in the London area are you? I live in Grove Park

Indeed and that's why I am uncomfortable with the uncertainty. Nevertheless, if pre and post meal differences are low it would be logical to deduce that I have regained some insulin sensitivity. But again, would that mean baseline glucose levels should be back to a normal range? Can you have good insulin sensitivity and a high-ish glucose average? I have no idea!

I was discussing this with my wife just a little earlier - central London is actually smaller than you might think. My phone map app in walking mode indicated Euston Station to the northern end of the Strand is only about 1.3 miles on foot. Basically you walk in a straight line down Kingsway. I did it in 20 minutes each way (the phone suggested half an hour :)). I don't live in London, I was attending a business function and Euston Station is my usual route into London. I am now doing a lot more walking to meetings in the West End from Euston. I estimate that I am now walking over 20 miles a week more than I was before I was diagnosed and occasionally a lot more. One problem is that my shoes are now a tad loose because you lose fat off your feet as well.

Edit: I ought to add that last night's food wasn't low carb but I managed to avoid the bulk of the carby bits and had no pud. But I did have couple goes at the rather nice mashed potato and gravy...
