4.6 vodka taken yesterday evening but probably not the long term answer

Theatre today in Stoke on Trent "Bodyguard " been getting great reviews.

Make the most of the sunshine I believe it's not with us for long.

7.1 this morning. Off to Diabetes UK event in Birmingham now.

Have you tried Lidl high protein, low carb bread rolls Gezzerbell and Gillyhill? They are 10carbs for one roll and didn't spike.
I just came back from lidl and I couldn't see these rolls. They do have rye loaf and low GI bread but they are big.

6.7 this am ...can anyone answer a question for me ...say if your BG is 8.5 and after food it rises to 10.5 ( therefore only a rise of 2) is that ok because although that's high its not really a spike is it . I'm probably not stating this very clearly but say my BG was 5 then it after food it spikes to 10 plus is that worse than starting on a higher figure:confused:

Hi, @mojo37, I'm certain that someone more knowledgeable will be along to give a full answer. In the meantime, I' d say you are right in thinking that a rise of 2 after food, is not a spike if it comes down again to the before food level.
However, if I was starting from a BGL of 5 and reading BGL10 or over at 1 or 2hours after, I would be thinking very seriously about never having that food again, certainly not in whatever portion size gave that reading. And further, after a few months, I might test that food again, to see if it was the guilty party.
But bear in mind that there are other reasons for spikes besides food.

Hi mojo37, a rise of 2 is ok after food ....but the ideal bs is 4.6 to 5.8 plus 2 after meal.

7.7 mmol / L this morning.
6.9 mmol / L at bed time.

Bed time just before midnight! :) Good quality sleep. Not usual bed time food and woke after lie in so highly likely tested past my Dawn Phenomenon.

Considering a series of tests in the morning to determine when my Dawn Phenomenon occurs. Probably need to have a regular morning routine first though! ;)

That means that the meal you consumed had an acceptable effect on your blood glucose at the 2 hour mark. It's a good baseline for determining which food in what proportions and combinations is alright for you to eat without spiking your blood glucose. It is a starting point but, a good starting point. :)

Yes, that's a spike as the rise is over 2 mmol / L.

Obviously, a lower starting point is better and anything over 10 mmol / L is considered Hyperglycaemic. Ideally, 2 hours after eating a meal a person with type 2 Diabetes should aim to be 7.8 mmol / L or less.
