Favourite tv programmes when you were young.....

Stingray and Battle of the Planets are my two favourite kids programmes from being a child. Also loved Tomorrow's World.

TV is a bit modern for me. I grew up with the wireless on all day for my mum -- Housewives' Choice, Music While You Work, Mrs Dale's Diary, Workers' Playtime with Wilfred Pickles and Mabel. Apart from Listen with Mother there wasn't anything for kids. But there was a sci-fi series called Journey into Space and Radio Luxembourg had Dan Dare, Pilot of the Future (from Eagle comic) sponsored by Horlicks, which I belted home from Argonauts (Sea Scouts) on my bike to hear.
I think my gran got a tv when I was 15 and the only progs I recall were Amos 'n' Andy and at some point the sci-fi drama Quatermass, which we had to visit a friend's house to watch for some reason. The Goons' version was better.

Robin Hood, William Tell, The Lone Ranger, Lancelot, Wagon Train, Dr Who, any Dickens' serial. . . . I'm trying to remember other black and white favourites before Star Trek. . . They'll come back to me . . .

How could you forget as a young teenager, @Mike D, Star Trek?

Yes I loved the puppet series of Supercar, fireball xl5, Thunderbirds, Stingray!

HI @nosher8355

I didn't :) Just took me a few years to get into it. .... and yes, you know I'm a big fan of everything ST ....

But when I was a boy, the shows I nominated were the ones I loved. Should have added "The Rifleman"

Mike :)

Did you like Skippy?

Hi @Pipp

By that time, I was way too old for it. :) At that stage, "Lost in Space" was my favourite :)

I liked lost in space too.
I have a confession that will probably bring ridicule. I was too old for Skippy too. I pretended to be keeping my little sister happy by sitting with her to watch it.

Edit, why was I worried about ridicule? In an earlier post @Mike D admitted he liked Little House on the Prairie! :hilarious::hilarious::hilarious:

Gilligan's Island, Bewitched. Crackerjack.

Och aye, Janet, or Dr Finlay's Casebook, can't remember there being any diabetics, this series probably predated diabetes. Dr. Kildare: OMG, a thing about doctors apparently! All Creatures Great and Small, vets now. I had a friend who could do a fantastic impression of the dog in Wooden Tops.

Yeah, Lost in Space, I enjoyed that series at the time! And 'Time Tunnel'.

They really look shockingly bad now!

'Lost in space' my missus said that of me once!;)

Yep, forgot about Time Tunnel ... it was good :) As soon as you said that, I thought of "Land of the Giants"

Remember "Voyage to the bottom of the sea"?

Yes the sub would hit turbulence or something and the crew would lurch from side to side in unison. Classic.

The sub was called Seaview and Richard Basehart was one of the stars - loved it.
