got home from work about an hour later than normal and just did my BS before dinner and was 4.0 , I then tested again and was 4.1 . I am in my second week of this and am averaging probably just under 5 for fast testing but though these figures a little low? Thoughts would be appreciated.

No, not really, you are at the bottom end of normal blood glucose levels.
You probably hadn't ate recently!

It shows that you are in control.

Well done, keep at it!

Hi,

How long between the two tests.?

Cheers Nosher on the low carbs , 5 oatcakes a day job, the good thing is I'm not getting sugar shocks as body fat now running show. How are you doing?

I'm often in the mid 4s when I get home from work - normally about 5 hours after lunch and 3 hours after a cup of tea.

If you otherwise feel good, those bg numbers are actually perfect when taken just before mealtime!
They are in the low end, but just on the positive side of being 'too low' for any concern.
Most diabetics would 'love' to have such numbers before starting any meal.
You have the official guidelines for bg ranges described here for each type of diabetic:
http://www.diabetes.co.uk/diabetes_care/blood-sugar-level-ranges.html

Before evening meal is when we expect to see our lowest levels as insulin resistance improves as the day progresses. It is the only time of day I ever see 4's. I take it you re-tested to check the first wasn't a fluke?
