Type 2's: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning?

A shocking 9.1 mmol / L this morning!
A highish 6.8 mmol / L before bed time.

Another late start this morning. Hoping that the high reading is the peak of my Dawn Phenomenon as I was 8.8 mmol / L four and a half hours later. Not happy it's so high though. I feel a week of extreme low carbing coming on. ;)

After 7 something this morning I'm now 8.9. Two bergen toast at 7.30 and nothing since.

What's that all about.

Could it be your liver intervening because of lack of food? I have only been diagnosed for a year but have found in general terms regular almost military feeding times along with the right foods means better BG control.

Hope you get lower soon.

5.0 for me this morning although I did go to bed at 5.8 aftr an impromtu fish and chip supper - I was 9.0 at 1hr, 8.0 at 2 hr and 5.8 at 3 hr - not sure after that because I went to bed!!

WOW - that's not bad for fish and chips!

Out of interest what was your pre-prandial reading?

Could it be the Burgen toast by any chance?

From their website:

The carbohydrate contents for Burgen are set out below:

• Burgen Soya & Linseed bread has 25.0g per 100g (11.0g per slice)
• Burgen Buckwheat & Poppy Seed has 38.6g per 100g (17.0g per slice)
• Burgen Sunflower & Chia Seed has 35.2g per 100g (14.8g per slice)

Their loaves may have less carbs than ordinary bread but it's certainly not what I'd call low carb.

Their FAQ entry about Type 2 diabetes blathers on about benefits of low fat, etc., says it all really.

Unfortunately I don't know because we were out longer than we thought so got fish and chips on way home because I decided that I couldn't be bothered to cook. I usually run between 5 and 6 though.

It was the soya one so the lowest carb one.

Saturday 6th 4.4mmol/L at 6.40am. Sunny, cold morning. More birds coming to the garden for sunflower seeds as winter sets in.
Lots to organise this weekend, so have planned 2hour sleep this afternoon.
Enjoy the day, everyone.
