So I opened the mail on Saturday to receive results for my Diabetic Retinopathy screening... with the phrase:
you have some slight early diabetic changes to your eye(s).... if you would like to discuss your screening result you could speak to your GP, as they will have been sent a copy of your eye screening results....

Result: weekend of doubt.
Outcome: appointment to see GP next Tuesday.

Ho and Hum....

If you can lower the highs and the lows and keep to minimal fluctuations in bloods it is possible to reverse. I had background retinopathy and my results have all been normal for past 4 years. My optician also commented that for a long standing T1 I was the best she had seen for my eyes. Purely from lowering the highs and the lows.

Thanks for the note DD, off to see doc next week and will probably reviewing feeding / exercise strategy.....
Have to say the weekend was a bit of a downer.... but that was then.

Hi Hankjam,

I actually am actually blogging to help my father who doesn't really to technology. He is a T2 with complex medical conditions and dreads his eye appointments and losing his licence. Not sure if it will help but I recently found this on youtube
and having delved a little deeper I am currently trying to get my dad one. Good luck.

thanks @catherinecherub
Hi RomeMC

I have been wearing the mask since october 2014 and it is definitely beginning to have a positive impact on my eyes.
this is at a level so far not discernible in my day to day sight but in the background of my eyes in terms of macular thickness and healing of tiny bleeds.

it is definitely worth you investigating and sending an email to their customer services. I have found them extremely helpful. :)

I got that, too. It was a bit depressing. I've been A-OK 'til now. But I'm told that while there is evidence, it is slight and doesn't affect my eyesight. And will most likely reverse itself now that I'm on the right insulin dosages and have sugar levels have been consistently good.

I was given the rather disturbing comment from my GP: "It's the first sign of change, probably nothing more for a while, nothing you can do about it... people with excellent BG control appear to have no control of retina decay"..... which was pretty depressing but hey, what ho!
