Type 2's: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning?

Saturday. 4.0 mmmol/L at 6.15am. Sunny, but a chill wind for the Parkrun, which I did a PW on!

Pasha, whenever I am hungry, my thoughts always turn to cheeses first.
There are so many that I am fond of, that I have devised a routine where I make 25g or 35 g portions in the morning, as an allowance.
Now I am wondering whether I should be eating cheese at all.
The evidence on cheese and heart health seems conflicted. I have always enjoyed it, and it doesn't seem to affect my BGL too much, so for the moment I intend to keep on. But I wonder...

A few weeks ago when I lost my first stone, I posted a pic with one stone worth of lard, piled up on a supermarket shelf. It was scarry...
Well done, indeed:)

I did indeed see that Moshe, showed it to my hubby and told my Mother as well, it was really inspirational. Would Asda mind if I stack up 78 packets of lard??? I have another 6 stones to go so I'm not getting complacent, but I'm really pleased with my achievements so far :joyful:

HaHaHa, I'll go by ASDA today to see if they keep that much in stock;-)

5.2 this morning :) after a panic attack yesterday sent my BG haywire.
End of term at last, and I'm experimenting with some LCHF baking today cos it's my birthday :joyful:

Edit: It's also day 100 of LCHF for me and I've lost exactly 3 stone (42lbs)!

Wishing you a very happy birthday !!:D

Moshe, its best to test with just one macine, the trend is whats most important ,not the absolute value.
Hi Pasha, and thank you, good advice:-;

As I previously said, I got a bit scared because of my Forxiga, and after checking yesterday on the ward, I bought today a box of Ketostix, did a dip and read 0.5 mmol/l which is pretty good for me, I guess ;-)
I know Forxiga has side effects, but without it my BS would be still around the 10s as it was before taking it. It also helped lose A LOT of weight, which I am particularly pleased about!

Have a g'day!

13.5 been all over the place last three weeks

Hi @shirty252. Believe me...we all have times when our blood glucose just won't behave. After shouting at your meter, get a sheet of bubblewrap, and start popping!! It all helps. ;) This is my FAVOURITE pic when BG won't play ball. Chin up hun. :)

5.8 whoop whoop... this is my lowest ever fasting blood... delighted to say the least :) now lets see if I can repeat what I did last night to make such a good result this morning - do you think the little vodka and diet coke helped ;)

Re the cheese.
1. Portion size is small, like the french portion size ex ca 25 grams.
2. The literature mostly does not consider the case of the LCHF dieter. We presumably deal very well with fats due to very low glycogen and low insulin. Its our main source of energy ie through beta oxidation to CO2+H2O + ATP
3. saturated fatty acids are associated with heart disease, but not said to be the cause.
Anyway thats my version, and I shall continue to enjoy cheese until ...............
