Got to be the peanuts fairy;)
Thank you OM, You're a gent:-)
Not many people realise the unbearable burden of sharing a life with all sorts of Fairies...
I've got sooo many... For example, I discovered today a hidden Cheese Fairy, which seems to have slipped security hidden in a pack of Italian cheese bought yesterday from Costco. It forced me to have another chunk of cheese together with half a roast chicken breast for breakfast ;-)
BTW, two hours after breakfast (which came a bit late at 08.45) my BS returned to 5.3;-)
Yep Costco Cheese Fairy can stay :-D

Knew i shouldn`t have had that last bit of porridge in the cupboard for brekkie bg gone from 6.8 to 12.7 in an hour and a self inflicted head ache...Oh why did i do it ? :(:(:(:(:(:(

Oh dear...
Trust me, You're not to blame!
Have you considered the Porridge Fairy? The surest sign of their presence is scattered rolled-oats-like flakes in cupboards, which fall from their wings!
;-)

Did you test again at 2 hours, oldman? It probably wouldn't have snapped back into line, but it would be interesting for you to know nonetheless. Do you believe the headache was connected? Are many of these terrible headaches you're experiencing food linked?

That's an excellent bounce back OM. You must be pleased with that part of the equation?

The Doc's explanation of the headaches makes all manner of sense, so I guess you can eat to your head health as well as your meter? I'm so glad there's an understanding of those headaches forming, as it must have been so worrying.

This damned diabetes throws us so many curved balls but in time we learn to manage them and throw them right back at it. Step away from the porridge OM.....you know it makes sense ;)

It might be worthwhile taking on some extra water to help the liquid re-distribution out a bit when a headache kicks in....
but that might be a "suck it and see" test.
Best

water and a lie down in a dark quiet room helps me.:)

Making an adjustment from the US to the UK standard, my fasting blood glucose today was 6.7 (120). I am working very hard to get it into a healthier range. Testing every morning feels like I've entered the world of scratch off lottery card addiction as each number connected to a loss or a win in the competitive wiring of my obsessive compulsive disordered brain sets the tone for my feelings of the day. So many have given me good advice on how to remove myself from framing it as such, but it is going to take time. Watching the seven second countdown awaiting the result feels like an eternity. I long for a new method of testing to be pioneered to eliminate the anxiety that this process stirs up for me and I imagine so many countless others.

What kind of food do you eat on a daily basis?....not being nosey....just curious :)

I am eating a low carb diet that excludes anything processed and focuses on healthy fats. A lot of fish, eggs, vegetables, a sparing amount of oats or other whole grains. I want to get my numbers into the good zone by way of eating right and more rigorous exercise before having to explore metformin and/or insulin after I take a new A1C test in September. It has been less than a month since these changes and I'm seeing some good results compared to with where I began this journey when everything was out of control. There is an emotional component to this change that is a struggle as in moments of weakness, I teeter towards the guiltily pleasant thought of indulging in an American style all you can eat carbohydrate festival, but I am trying to remind myself that I know better now.
