Windows 10

Installed Windows 10 last week, so far I've only had that message once.

I have been using windows 10 since the launch and I have to say I haven't had any problems, it takes a little time to get used to the layout and where things have gone, but honestly I quite like it so far.

I'm going to wait at least 2 months, if it ain't broke don't fix it approach...

Also I'm concerned about how many of my programs wont work....

The layout is much better.

I haven't had any programs that don't work (yet), although a few folk have reported some bugs and such on the windows 10 forum. I may have just been one of the lucky people who have had no problems so far.

I agree, the layout is way better IMO than windows 8, I struggled a lot with 8 to be honest, the update bug was horrendous and metro was dire.

I had to get used to the start(ish) menu as it looked quite odd with the app style layout, but I am getting used to it now and if there is something I cant find I use the search function.

That's what I had before Windows 8, it took a while to download and it kept saying the laptop would shut-down and restart again, I think it took around two hours to download but not much longer than that.

I am reserving my options at the moment. My laptop is quite elderly (W7, and about 4 years old) and I am not sure it's worth the potential risk of a W10 install messing everything up when I will probably have to get a new machine in the next few months anyway.

I have heard several people complain that there are problems with W10 getting laptops to power up again, when they have gone to sleep because of the lid being closed. Also we have a slightly temperamental wireless printer and I have a grim foreboding that a W10 install will render it completely incompatible.

Bets firmly hedged ... :)

Well I lasted 2 days with Windows 10 and had to recover back to Windows 7.
Scroll function on mousepad didn't work
Backlit screen didn't work so screen was dark
Had to google a hack to get some software working
Facebook videos wouldn't play as well as BBC iPlayer, ITV Player etc......
Online banking protection software wouldn't work with new browser Windows Edge - Push you over the edge more like
Blah Blah Blah Windows 10 Blah Blah Blah
Didn't work for my laptop :(
Luckily you get a months grace to recover back to your previous version... So I did the recovery and in 10 minutes all is well again :)

Windows 10 if you read the small print which no one ever does .... comes with a key logger virus .... well used to be called virus but has now become a Microsoft product or a part of.
They are of course only recording and storing everything you type and everywhere you visit so they can offer you better products a wider range of services yadda yadda.
When are people going to say enough is enough?
The word privacy is almost obsolete now.
The concept of it something I'm going to have to explain to my grand children.
Why on earth did you have privacy Granddad .... why did you think it important?

This is not 1984 ....Orwell said this surveillance world was coming but he said cameras in the streets and spying on what you do at home would be forced on us.
This is Brave New World and Huxley .... he said we wouldn't mind in fact we'd welcome it and ask for more and everyone would be on drugs to keep down the pressure.
You can shove your Microsoft Windows 10.
I'm sticking with my virus free Linux thanking you very muchly.
