novorapidboi26 Well-Known Member Messages 2,828 Location Glasgow Type of diabetes Type 1 Treatment type Pump Aug 17, 2015 #2 not dangerous no............ it doesn't really make sense with the insulin that are out there at the moment though........ it takes 5 -15 minutes for novorapid to get going for example, so ideally you would want to inject 5 -15 minutes before eating........ this will ensure the insulin activity will match up as best possible with the digestion..... of course if your low before a meal you would potentially inject after, but a low before meal should be an isolated incident.....

For most of the time you'll end up with high bg levels unless you happen to eat a meal that is high in fat, all quick-acting insulins take around 15 mins to work so by injecting ahead you can reduce that postprandial spike.
