Hi there, I have had type 2 diabetes for several years now and have just totally ignored the condition as I was on the full dose of Metformin and felt so well, I didn't worry. However after having a blood test my diabetic nurse said my diabetes has got much worse and whereas I was at 52 test shows I am now 67. I know that the higher it is the worse it is but I haven't a clue what this means. I have checked online but all I can find is a low, medium & high chart and obviously I have to try and keep to the lower numbers. When it says Cabbage = 10 is that per ounce per pound - the whole cabbage or what!!
I really want to get the diabetes down if I can (pity I didn't do it years ago) but I haven't a clue how to go about it. I have never been given a machine to test my blood, but do I need one? I visited the pharmacist today and he said I really don't need one if I'm type 2 they are really for those on insulin. Sorry to gabble on but I so need some help. I have just ordered the g.i diet pocket guide, but am not sure if that's what I need.
Can anyone out there give me a few pointers? I would be very grateful. Many thanks
