I find that at night i get a decent number like tonight i got 7.9 mmol (10pm) then 1 hour or 2 hours (12 am) now shot up to 13mmol? i did not eat or anything i just drank water?!? then by tomorrow morning prob it will go up to around 14.7mmol?!?
anyone can help me ? iv been increase my lantus every 3 days as my doctor says if it doesnt go down. but still not working

What time(s) do you take your Lantus and how much?
Eg if you take it in the morning it may be running out by the following morning.

Also what time is your evening meal, what are you eating, and do you inject quick acting insulin for your meals?

Yes i took humalog before my meal then at 10pm i took lantus (18 units)

When j was waking up with high levels it was due to too much basal. Just a thought for you. I was having hypo In sleep early hours of morning.

basal test required.........

have dinner then have no food or bolus till next morning...........

test before bed, 3am and waking........

you may know this already but that's the process to decide whether or not to increase the Lantus........

keep increasing until its held steady.....

Yes an overnight hypo is a real possibility here.

Okay I'll give it a try

the problem is. I walk in the morning which might bring down the bs. will that screw up my results?

Hi all, agree with novorapidboy26 re testing overnight. If your BGL rises by more than 1.5 (between doses) it means that there is not enough long acting. The reason for testing at 3am to see if you are getting morning syndrome, ie high BGL, early usually around 4am. Let everyone know the results.

activity after you wake wont mess with the overnight picture as the basal test essentially ends when you wake up........

if you are active every morning and it drops you, the only thing you can do on a single dose of Lantus, is either take on carbs or reduce your mealtime insulin at breakfast to compensate.....
