2015/16 Football Season

Switzerland are no mugs and were thought to be our toughest rivals for the group.
Just seen the team and our defence does look a bit weak in my opinion.
But it's when we get to France that matters, cos I'm certain we will still qualify.

We qualified with the win against San Marino, we just haven't won the group.

Have to say we weren't our best, hopefully when Welbeck comes back we can do a lot better. Always been a fan of his and never understood why United didn't use him more. Once again Milner was great, not the best player but always gives it his all when playing for England.

It will all end in tears again!!:(:banghead:

Hate the way press and media big up our so called stars in the England set up.

And then knock them down!

How many world class players have we? Who would get in the world eleven, how many in world squad?

Think quarter finals at best, fiat rankings not far off!:arghh::rolleyes:

I'd say we don't have any, and the Sun is the worst and not just for bigger up the players for all the **** they've done over the decades. I think we have a chance, not saying we're the favourites but a better than previous years. If you think about the teams we've had in the last ten years when Peter Crouch and Jermain Jenas get in the squad you know that it's weak :P Managers kept Gerrard, Lampard and Terry and to a lesser extent Ferdinand around for too long which is also why we've done badly. We might have a better defence if it wasn't for that.

Totally agree with the obsession with these highly paid and not necessarily good enough so called superstars. Sky sports news seem obsessive towards Liverpoo and anything that Stevie g does!
I agree with not one in world squad but Rooney would be on standby in case three of the world's best got injured!
Some good kids coming through but won't make it due to not playing at highest standard in league and European cups.

Yeah definitely think that going to City was a bad move for Sterling as he won't get enough games there, they are constantly buying new players. Kane needs to move somewhere but you know that with Spurs they will make teams pay double the price. Also think all the Liverpool players like Henderson and Lallana should move somewhere probably abroad Ligue 1 maybe? Too many of our players lack creativity because they only stay in the Premier League.

:happy:Well England can sort out hotels for France
Wales almost certainly can:)
Scotland look out of it:inpain:
Northern Ireland in with a good chance:happy:
Rep of Ireland in with a chance still:happy:

Been interesting to see how the qualifiers have gone and for some teams (no disrespect) Iceland are having a barnstormer in their group with Holland (same group) having a total nightmare so far.

Nice to see (no disrespect) some of the 'minnows' getting some points in their groups (Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, etc) just shows Europeon football can throw up some shocks now and then.

Talking of Europe a little known fact for you that in the Anglo Italian Cup (does anyone else remember this?) a certain 'minnow' from England went to the Stadio Olympico in Rome in the first leg and beat AS Roma 3-2 and in the return home leg drew 3-3.

Some 'minnows' bite :D

I agree with you, it is nice that some smaller teams have done well especially Iceland who have never been to a major tournament. I would like a third place play off game at the Euros now though considering there an extra twenty games, one more won't hurt. So you're a Carlisle fan then?

Oh god yeah do I remember that, but out of my wage level to travel, but the supporters who went said it was probably the best away days ever and the Italians were so welcoming.

Our only win in Italy was against Pisa.

Carlisle fan I cant help it, was drummed into me by my older brother who used to take me to BP as a kiddy and it stuck

Nothing wrong with it, better than all these Londoners supporting Man U :banghead: Think you'll get a promotion this year?

We beat AS Roma away and drew at home and won both legs against Catanzaro 1-0 away and 4-1 at home in 1972 but finished 2nd behind Blackpool in the English division and only the winners of the English/Italian divisions met in the final so that each country was represented

1, Blackpool won all 4, for 18 against 1 PTS 8
2, Carlisle won 3 drew 1, for 11 against 6 PTS 7
3, Birmingham won 2 drew 1 lost 1, for 5 against 5 PTS 5
4, Leicester won 2 lost 2, For 11 against 7 PTS 4
5 Sunderland won 1 drew 2 lost 1, for 9 against 7 PTS 4
6, Stoke won 2 lost 2, for 4 against 4 PTS 4

AS Roma (a team we had not lost to) won the Italian division and played Blackpool in the final at Stadio Olympico the result was a 3-1 win for Roma

I remember going to the home legs v Roma & Catanzaro
Now look at us

Promotion I would rule out for this season the defence still has Laurel & Hardy in the back 4 along with Charlie Chaplin in goal.

After last seasons struggle for league survival I will settle for stability this season

How long you supported your team?

A wins a win so well done, Italian competition is tough

Back to Championship football this weekend and we have a nice away game at Cardiff City. Should be a tester and we really need to think of getting our first win. Then thats followed by an away trip to Charlton next Tuesday now they are a Bogey team for us. UTT

Rovers have back to back real local derbies on Saturday and Tuesday.
First up at PP is jester than Southport.
These are huge games for our fans. Our nearest rivals other than the big two over the water!
Anything other than getting good results is unacceptable!
