Psychologist?

I have an appointment to see the above next week, this is at the diabetic clinic at the hospital. I don't understand why it's at this clinic and it says follow up, I've not been before! Its not a diabetic problem, any ideas?
 
At your last clinic appointment did you happen to mention that you are struggling with anything @Sarah69?
 
The waiting list might be longer for the "non-diabetic" psychologist. I'd just be glad they got me an appointment!
 
I read in another thread that you have frozen shoulder and trigger finger? psychologists can help with pain management strategies. Hopefully this will be of help to you. Good luck.

It might be worth trying to see a psychologist about the pain issues though.

I might be inclined to think it would be best to use this service, as it is most likely the psychologist you see will have an understanding of diabetes as well as the food issues you are encountering. As we know, in terms of food and eating, as diabetics we can't just go with the flow and go along with the way non-diabetics eat.

The last thing you need is to see a psychologist who gives you advice that makes your diabetes worse - especially as you already have some potentially related complications.

I'd take the association with the diabetes clinic as a huge positive. :)
 
Well I will be attending the appointment as I need this food issue sorting out. Not sure how they can help with pain!

Is this not classed as "complimentary medicine" regarding psychology for physical pain managment issues??

No, cognitive behavioural therapy for pain management is mainstream psychology. It's been extensively studied and shown to be effective. Thanks for your interest in science based healthcare. ;)
