Hi Artisticforge, does your employer know you have diabetes. If so, then wearing a neckchain or bracelet whilst at work wouldn't be necessary and therefore you would only need to wear it outside of your workplace. Perhaps you could wear a badge, or if you wear overalls have a label sewn onto this with the info about your diabetes.

I don't know if it would be suitable in an industrial setting, but MedicAlert do a stainless steel bracelet with a link that breaks/releases if the bracelet is caught in anything. I've had mine for years and I know it works because I've caught it before and it opened and dropped off. I was then able to reattach it. The releasing clasp didn't break.

MedicAlert have an excellent back up service too.

Hello

I am looking for a "break away" medical alert bracelet. I am around rotating shafts & machinery often. I have seen enough accidents where metal jewelry is caught by the rotating shaft and serious injuries occur. Rings are other accident waiting to happen. Seen several accidents where the person's ring finger is no longer attached to the hand.

necklaces and neck ties caught in a metal lathe and the person pulled into the rotating lathe.

The ideal medical alert would be durable polished stainless steel with contracting paint filling in the engraved lettering. The clasp would be a magnet safe clasp. Similar to the Apple power cord for the Apple Laptops. If the power cord is tripped it is pulled off the laptop. The laptop does not get pulled off onto the floor. I have looked locally and the pharmacy are all mail in order medical bracelets. most of the heavy chain.

I am not sure how the silicon bracelet would give. I suspect that it would not give quickly enough. there would still be some degree of injury.

I know eBay will seem like an odd place to look for stuff like this, but from time to time, others have raised similar queries, and various eBay links have been posted. I don't know what a search on this sight might return, but there have also been various thread around manbags (for supplies), carry cases etc.

But, eBay and Pintrest seem to have lots of linked images you might find helpful.

I am not employed. I live rural, farming country. PTO[1] shafts, roller chains, conveyors, chain saws, metal lathe, wood lathe, etc.

[1] PTO - power takeoff

I understand your problem now. How have you managed so far? Maybe phoenix has the answer. It would be helpful if you could post on here, if you find a solution.

i would be inclined to get a brooch, then pin it to the inside of clothing but just visable so people can see it if needs be

Have found a website theidbandco.com if you look under the heading sport you will find an ID card that fits onto your shoes or belt.
