Lidl High Protein Low Carb Rolls

Are Lidl still doing these high protein rolls? three supermarkets near me have stopped selling them, despite them seeming to be really popular. Are there any alternatives?

    Liver function Ultra sound

I'm very encouraged by this article. I'm not overweight (BMI of 22) but that doesn't mean I don't have too much visceral fat. Following an 800 calorie diet for two months would see me waste away to nothing, but if good results can be achieved in even a few days then it's certainly worth a goal.

    Cholesterol

I'm looking for people's opinions and advice. I was diagnosed Type 2 a couple of years ago, and for the last 18 months I've followed a low carb high fat diet which in particular includes lots of butter and cheese. This has helped to keep my blood glucose pretty much within normal levels, but...

    Metformin and alcohol

Obviously I can't give medical advice, but I think you can safely drink as much as you want while taking metformin. There is an absolutely minuscule chance of you experiencing complications, but even though it's so minuscule the drug companies protect themselves by putting these dire warnings on...

    Alcohol and Metformin

Take no notice of the scaremongering warnings. There are very few medications that can't be consumed with alcohol, and metformin certainly isn't one of them. I regularly wash mine down with a bottle of red wine

    Long Term drug use

I couldn't disagree more. Metformin has been a frontline drug of choice for decades, and despite the fact that some people experience unpleasant side effects it is well proven to be extremely safe and extremely effective.

    Long Term drug use

As well as lowering blood sugar and increasing insulin sensitivity, metformin has well proven cardio vascular protection benefits. In my view it is worth taking it for this reason alone, irrespective of whether you have good control of blood sugar or not

    metformin and alcohol

Take no notice - it's a load of twaddle. Most evenings I wash my metformin tablet down with a glass of red wine

    Any one tried iBG Star

I have the iBG star and find the meter to be fantastic. It's great to be able to work out tends with the graph displays. I use alternative site testing, and have to say the lancet isn't great for that. It usually takes a few attempts to get a sample from my forearm, but I still prefer it to...

reduced alcohol = reduced blood sugar readings?

Have to say that red wine definitely reduces my blood sugar. In fact I will allow myself some extra carbs if I'm also drinking wine.

    Metformin and alcohol

On several occasions I've sunk a bottle of strong red wine followed by a large glass of port. As I take my metformin straight after my evening meal I've often washed it down with a glug of wine  I don't drink beer, but I don't think two or three pints would be a problem.

    Wearing My Finger Tips Out???

I use alternative site testing - usually on my forearm. There is a slight lag in blood glucose levels compared to the fingertips so must be used with caution in some situations, such as if someone was in danger of a hypo. But for day to day monitoring of T2 it is perfectly adequate.

    Bread

I generally eat Hovis Original Wheatgerm, which is 9.7g carbs per slice - though the slices are rather small. Burgen is acceptable, but it just doesnt seem like "real" bread.

    dry mouth

Hi Laura I often get periods lasting a few days at a time when I get a dry mouth or feel downright thirsty. I always expect it to be caused by high glucose but my readings are always normal. I don't know what causes it but it's very unpleasant because I presume it's an indication that something...

    So many Questions!

Hi Nikki I also suffer from an anxiety disorder, and since I was diagnosed last month my anxiety has gone through the roof. The fact that my first foot exam and retinopathy exam were both clear reduced the anxiety a bit. I am constantly amazed at the physical symptoms of anxiety. I have also...
