Dexcom One - What's it like in use?

@becca59 I didn't realise that even BG monitor can be out by that much! Would this be the case even for finger prick tests? OK makes me feel a little better about the Libre 2 then :D it would be great if they could add a calibration feature though!

Dexcom One - What's it like in use?

That's disappointing. I'm currently using the Libre and they forced me to move to Libre 2 since they stopped supporting the Libre 1 (even though I just want monitoring, not alarms). I found the Libre 1 to be pretty reliable and once baselined, quite accurate. My experience with Libre 2 has been...

Interesting scientific developments in T2 treatment

I only mentioned them because the abstract that you referred to did: "The new study suggests that in mice, as in people, genetic susceptibility to type 2 diabetes and other metabolic problems may only become apparent when on an unhealthy diet, particularly one that leads to obesity." My point...

Interesting scientific developments in T2 treatment

This presumes that we even understand what a "healthy" diet is! Low fat / high carb diets, as highlighted in recent studies and literature (as well as the media), also seem to lead to heart disease and obesity whereas high fat does not necessarily? So who to believe?

Interesting scientific developments in T2 treatment

It would certainly be interesting to further research it. I had assumed that the responsible metabolic pathway(s) was entirely within the abdominal glands

Insulin care in the summer heat

This is my first summer on insulin, and while I know I need to keep unopened vials in the fridge, what do I do about opened ones e.g. the one in my pen! I'm nervous about keeping my pen in the fridge due to ensuring it is properly mixed and also that the instructions say that once at room temp...

    Freestyle Libre rather than cgm?

I'm not T1 but got the Libre to see what my overnight sugars are like since I recently went on insulin. A bit frivolous I suppose but I'm really keen on getting good control since I've been in the diabetes wilderness for a while! :)

    Freestyle Libre rather than cgm?

@CarbsRok Hi can you please explain this more fully? I've just started using a Libre. So do you put Skin Tac on the sensor adhesive itself? Or do you apply as per instructions and then cover with Skin Tac and the Tegaderm over the entire unit? Many thanks! :)

    Type 1: Prescription fine

I am surprised that no-one, including your pharmacist, has ever asked to see your certificate or put the certificate number on the prescription. I was told on the first day I got a prescription for diabetes meds (I used to have a private GP and paid for all my own meds, because I didn't...

    (Non) trigger finger when testing

I stopped using the spring loader and do it with a lancet by hand. Now I know exactly how deep to go and I have much less bruising and pain. I think maybe because there isn't that SHOCK :) it feels more like my injection and I agree the injection is much easier!

    breakfast BG readings = +2.4

Protein does also raise BG, just not as much and not as fast as carbs :)

    High readings

Wetabix will also push sugars higher but sounds like dawn phenomenon. Best wishes
