    diabetes type2

Hi Margaret, it isn't the worst thing to have in the world. I thought it was the end of the world when I was diagnosed at 21 years old. The best advice is to read/ask questions. I learnt more on this forum in 5 mins than I did with the diabetic nurse when I was diagnosed. Good luck :)

    Metfartin :(

I thought it may have something to do with carbs too, but even when I don't eat carbs I still have tummy trouble & end up in the bathroom. At least I know I am not the only one with troubles though, which makes me feel slightly better. I tried taking it at the start of a meal and at the mid...

    Metfartin :(

Hello everyone, I am on Metformin x 3 times per day (or supposed to be). I was put on it by my gynaecologist to help with my polysystic ovaries and due to my diabetes. I cannot take 3 per day, as I end up house-bound (or should i say bathroom bound!). I am struggling to manage one per day. I...

    Non-existent weight loss

Hi Viv, Thank you for your reply. I don't have a carb counter book. Where is the best place to get one, and which is the best one to get? To be honest, I didn't think Ribena had that many carbs in (stupidly), I know it is full of sugar but that many carbs in ONE cup?!? :( I am currently...

    Non-existent weight loss

Hello All. I have been diagnosed as type 2 since June last year & have since stopped snacking all day, cut out white pasta & bread. I reduced the amount I put on my plate. Started eating more veg & cut out a lot of carbs. Cut down on full fat ribena etc. I have lost approx 2-4 kg which really...

    Slim Fast

I tried the Slimfast diet, two a day with a main meal (healthy) and no snacking. It was horrible! So hard to do. I would stare at everyone watching them eat! I tried it for 4 weeks and didn't loose a thing! :( I only liked the strawberry one. Didn't like any other flavours. Maybe try a different...

    Hi :-)

Hi Babz, I was diagnosed at 20 as a type 2 and was told that I didn't need to test either. It is hard with food around you. I love chocolate and have a very sweet tooth! Keep us updated with how you get on. Becks :)

Can someone talk to me ?

Hi Rach, I am 22 and was diagnosed type 2 just before my 22nd birthday. The doctors have now told me they are not sure if I am type 1 or type 2. It is very confusing, but everyone will always try to help each other out. If you ever want to chat, you can pm me :) Good luck, Becks

    Diabetes in Monkeys

We have two degus who thankfully (touch wood) don't have diabetes yet, however they are really prone to getting this so have to live a virtually sugar free lifestyle. (I occasionally want to have some of their food pellets rather than my meals lol!)

    Type 1 or Type 2?!?

Thanks for all your replies. I always had a raging thirst, I get through the day in a maze as I am so tired. My eyes feel like fire and it is an effort to do anything. The only thing that is different is I haven't lost weight. I really don't know what to think. I have low blood pressure and...

    Type 1 or Type 2?!?

Hi, I am relatively new to diabetes and learning everyday, but I went to see my doctor today who wants to do further tests as he doesn't know if I am type 1 or type 2 mostly due to my age - i'm 22 - (despite being diagnosed as type 2 in June). Can anyone explain in simple (ish) terms what the...

    One for the ladies...

Ladies Question Hello, I know I am pretty new to this, but as I had been having diabetic symptoms before my diagnosis, I wondered if my problem has got anything to do with it. I have really irregular periods, they can be heavy, light, nothing for months then non stop for months and so on...

Hi from a newly diagnosed type 2

I must admit, before I read the above I thought only type 1 had to measure and asses their blood. Is it worth while waiting for my appointment (on the 10th Aug) to see if I can get strips, or should I buy some now? My dietician advised me to eat more carbohdrates (like potatoes & pasta) and...

Hi from a newly diagnosed type 2

Hello, I was diagnosed around 2 weeks ago and I am still very confused. I am 22 years old with type 2. (Yes, I know very young). I don't do much exersise due to a knee injury which is slowly getting better. I don't know what I can and can't eat. I got told to eat loads of carbs, but on here I...
