I'm getting there... I have been T2DM for 13 years now. Over that time I have had to fight my practice bloody hard for treatment that wasn't based in the 1950's. Mid November 24, I was put on glicazide. 3 stone in weight gain in 6 weeks, so I stopped taking them. Finger pricjs were between...

What did the drummer call his twin daughters? Anna 1, Anna 2... Sorry. What do you call an old snowman? A glass of water....

    Munjaro, cost and rationing.

Thank you. I guessed it was a case of financial cost over health benefits for my practice. Maybe if the 5 part-time, partners didn't take £1m a year in salary there would be more for patients. Hey ho.

    Munjaro, cost and rationing.

My weight is not reducing. Having said that, I also take glicazide 40mg night and morning and, when on these alone I put 14kg on in 2 months. I suspect that the glicazide is keeping my weight up, (120kg) whilst the munharo is reducing my bs from 17.1 to 8.9 over 2 months.

Does Mounjaro alone work to lower blood sugar?

I am on 5mg now, having had 1 month on 2.5mg. My bs went from 17.4 to 8.9 in the 2 months. I was expecting to go to 7.5mg, but the nurse said there was no clinical benefit to doing this. I found that mystifying until I found out that munjaro 7.5mg and 10mg are £15 more than 5mg.

    Munjaro, cost and rationing.

I have been on munjaro for 2 months now. Started at 2.5mg, then after 4 weeks went to 5mg. I was expecting to go up to 7.5mg today when my nurse rang, but when she did, she said I was to stay on 5mg as " There are no determinal benefits to going above 5mg." My surgery is in financial...

    Empaglifozen and keto diets

Update here: Raised my carbs to 30g / day and stopped the Emplafiglozin 9 days ago on my nurses advice. Ketone dip sticks are now 0.5 to 1.5 mmol virtually consistent unless I go less than 20g carb per day then dipsticks go to 4mmol. Waking BG before meds of 1000 metaformin and 100...

    Supplements

As a by note, Metagormin halves a man's testosterone. It keeps you looking young but at the expense of testosterone, which has so many side effects on its iwn.

Hi mark. Welcome to the forum. You have said it all in the first few lines, carbs and sweet stuff. This sounds like me but what I write below is only appertaining to me and is not health advice for you. Join the club. I'm the same as you especially Costa toasties and cakes. Why have 1 almond...

    Empaglifozen and keto diets

I've somehow answered your question in Hsss 's post above but I will buy another set from a different chemist to check the expiry date. Thank you for your help.

    Empaglifozen and keto diets

I use the Ketostix brand of reagent strips and this tube of sticks are brand new. Having said that I have just checked the date of the last tube and the new one opened a few days ago and both have an expiry dare of 31.08.2025. I really never thought of this so thank you. I have been looking to...

    Empaglifozen and keto diets

An update on this is that the dip tests are still high. I stopped the Empaglifozen with the last one on Friday. Non on Saturday or today. Ketones wee strips were 8 all day yesterday, 06.01.24 and I ate 120g carb. Today, dip rest after waking, was off the chart, at least 16 the nurse did say...

Freshwell GP Surgery professionals guide to T2D, Low Carb and Prescribing

This is refreshing to read. I hope he's sent it to my practice because they are 100% anti low carb diets. As you may see from my posts about low carb and ketones, this document pointed to nutritional ketosis as opposed to ketoacidosis. I'd never heard of this. Really interesting. Upon...
