Hi i was diagnosed on the 31st October 2017 with 65mmol/ll now had it confirmed that my last HBA1C had reduced to 41 mmol. I am ecstatic but GP and DN were happier. Achieved on 2 x 500 Metformin (reduced to one tablet daily as I never remember to take the one in the evening anyway) and lowish...
Congrats I was diagnosed in October 2017 with a HBA1C of 65 just accessed my new test results and HbA1C down to 41! I have lost 31lbs and 4 inches of my waist. 1 x 500mg metformin twice daily and looking forward to seeing the DN on the 23rd hopefully to reduce it. Achieved through lowish carbs...
My family were very good one green and black’s easter egg and a box of Green and Black’s velvet 70% cocoa and a bottle of famous grouse. The chocolate will last a month the scotch a lot less[emoji56]. Hardest part was organising an easter egg hunt for kids grandchildren nieces and various great...
Hi I am interested on the effect of exercise on readings especially is it better to exercise before eating or after? Especially in the morning. I understand the morning phenomenon but would it help to bring the morning readings 6.8 - 6.2 down lower if i did 30 mins to 1 hour cycling or 3 HIT...
If you check Metformin on the internet it will take you to an NHS page which indicates that you can drink while taking Metafornin. I still drink the odd beer 1 or 2 a week and red wine and scotch and water. The one Drink I have been strictly warned off is Cider by my my DN. Full of Sugar and Carbs

My wife recently bought me Vickerys cookbook for diabetics working with UK Diabetes. Should be expensive but bought in Works at garden centre very cheap. Reasonable recipes but gives the carbs for each meal. So I adapt the recipes for myself but it is quite informative
Further to the comments re blood glucose monitoring and strips on prescription i am not the only patient in Northamptonshire who has been offered these on prescription. I suggest you refer your GP to the NICE recommendations and advice on this forum. It is not a post code lottery conundrum. I...
Me too the weight just crept up on me and several rugby tours didn’t help. I only found out i was T2 after seeing the GP for a different issue. The weight loss has plateaued so back to the exercise bike [emoji605][emoji49]
Hi I was diagnosed in November but firstly it is not the end of the world! I am on Metaformin and so far have tolerated it within reason. If it gets worse i will ask for the slow release version. Diet helps but depending on your results you can make up your mind what you want to eat...
Interesting i have been on Metformin 3.5 weeks and have the same reaction. Could be just the change of lifestyle coming to a head or i am turning into Victor Mildrew[emoji23]
Hi newly diagnosed and introduced myself recently. I am on the dreaded Metamorfin but fortunately not experiencing too many stomach problems and a couple of high blood pressure drugs. Have started low carb diet with blessing of DN and testing (kit supplied foc with supply of strips etc.)...
