    Best way of losing weight?

I don’t think anyone here is “wrong” or that anything that’s been said here is “wrong “. What proposition here is thought by you to be one which I view as wrong? I have only said that low carbs alone is not enough to lose weight if one is eating everything else to excess, and I have not seen any...

    Best way of losing weight?

That makes my point exactly, thank you!

    Best way of losing weight?

You have interpreted my comment unjustly as having some pejorative intent, whereas its intent was only to make clear that successful application of low carbs has to be within the right context, that is, when eating overall in a moderate fashion and not being too sedentary, if one can. My comment...

    I totally agree.

    Best way of losing weight?

The best overall situation is to have gained enough experience with one’s own successful mode of eating that one emerges wholly from the counting game, whether of carbs or cals, and just enjoy with confidence the way one eats. Many in this forum now do exactly that. I still do a lot of counting...

    Best way of losing weight?

I believe it does no harm to be aware of overall energy intake, as ultimately that is the weight loss determinant. Dr Unwin is very clear on that even though his approach focuses on low carbs. For sure, low carbs greatly assists moderated eating patterns and hence weight loss. But someone eating...

    Best way of losing weight?

My own view is that a good approach is to combine low carbs with an eye out for ensuring overall calorie reduction as well, with some regular exercise thrown in.

Measuring Blood Glucose and the effect of medication

Similar to me, three times a week I have 40g of porridge with 250mls semi-skimmed milk, 5 prunes and 8g chia, preceded by 15g cheese. Have done several checks and bg rises very little from around 5.6 and back to there within 90 minutes. Max level observed 6.1. No meds involved.

    Carbs-independent remission

Thank you! I shall do fine-grained tests on post-prandial elevations for all my meal types, weekly weigh-ins and fortnightly fasting bg tests, and should have my next A1c on about April 15th. My expectation is that my A1c will drift from its 38 up to maybe 44 or so, but who knows? I’ll report in...

    Carbs-independent remission

This mirrors very closely my own experience. For two years I have been very rigorous with daily exercise and calorie restriction, all in the context of keeping carbs at a moderate level, keeping weight and waistline at strict low values and thereby keeping A1c at or below 42 (now 38). The only...

    Carbs-independent remission

In some ways we should be thankful that the guidelines are not enforced, given the flakey basis of some of them.

Maintaining remission/getting back on the wagon

Actually I don’t think it is motivation you seek - the very fact of your posting this shows that you are totally aware of the issues and are wishing to resume a good state. Instead, I think it is strategems you are soliciting. Well, you know what has worked for you before, albeit it has been...

Maintaining remission/getting back on the wagon

There is some sort of logical conundrum here, as if you are now having difficulty in summoning up a motivation, what motivates you to seek one?

    Carbs-independent remission

And I guess that in the NHS they would not have the scope under the guidelines even if they wished?

    Carbs-independent remission

I agree that the determination of insulin levels at diagnosis would be extremely useful, it seems absurd to me that it should not be standard procedure, in order to guide the way ahead for the patient and for the doctor. If the diabetes has come on quite recently then they are very likely to be...
