@Chris24Main - Many thanks for your message. I've ordered some Lo Carb bread from Low Carb Food Co which is not a million miles from the gym I use, so this is my final attempt (along with the other tips I'll adopt received from members) to keep some form of bread in my diet. If I can't get my...
Many thanks loving life, I was unaware of the possible insulin vicious circle, makes sense with how i feel at the moment. And thank you for the meal suggestions, I only had one go-to low BG option at the moment which was cauliflower cheese and butchers sausages
Stews and pies as main evening meals. So it’s the taters and pastry that I’m guessing are the issue, I usually have bread too as I’m constantly hungry at the moment. Salad and vegetables don’t seem to fill me up. I usually have a sandwich for lunch but it’s always with protein like chicken or...
Hi Pipp,
Many thanks. Diet has been poor but I’m on it now, my main difficulty is with bread. Meds are Metformin 500mg twice a day, plus 5mg Linagliptin in the evening. I also have to take 100mg day Azathioprine and 5mg prednisone for an eye condition. I go to the gym 90mins 4/5 times a week...
Hi @Ladynijo
Diagnosed 7 years ago. Many thanks for your reply, its heartening to know my readings are not unique. I'm recently retired so not on my feet as much or working the hours I used to so BG has gone a little awry in the last 12 months. I'll continue with more testing and see if its...
7.8 with no breakfast or early morning brew at 8am. Struggling at the moment, straight to the gym 90mins relatively tough workout. 750ml water during and decaf coffee 1 brown sugar after. Home 20 mins later BS of 8.5. No idea what I’m doing wrong.
What a great thread! I've been struggling to understand why after no breakfast and 1hr spent in the gym my BG is always around 2mmol/L higher than before I started. I'll now try varying the routine see what my meter says.
I have sarcoidosis also and was taking a high dose of Prednisolone also whilst on a new drug trial. During the trial I had a infection that put me in hospital and was taken off the trial and told to taper the steroid off. My average BG was 7.5mmol/L for around 3 weeks even after tapering off the...
SamJB, many thanks for you reply. Having now followed some of the links in the thread - a potential 1% decrease in risk of CVD opposed to a potential increase in diabetic management problems, mean I will not be taking the statins.
