Type 2 Medication review has changed things, but which drug should I stop?

Hi. For yonks now I've been on type 2 medication, as well as other stuff. The diabetic medication is slow-release Metformin 2x500mg twice a day, Alogliptin 25mg once a day and Gliclazide 40mg in the morning and 80mg at night. Well I've now been put on Canagliflozin (like Dapagliflozin, only my...

COVID vaccine and extremely high blood sugars

Has there been anything 'official' said about this? (Haven't had time to read the whole thing yet, but will do later). Both my partner and I have T2, though she is just diet controlled, while I am on just about everything! We have both had the AZ vaccine (first dose only) and have both had...

Type 2 War between painkillers and Gliclazide.

Thank you all for such quick replies! I shall be in touch with my doc's soon then! (If I can get them to talk to me), they're usually too busy to do anything with patients!

Type 2 War between painkillers and Gliclazide.

Hi, sorry for confusing title. I have recently been put on 40mg Gliclazide daily. I see in the notes, that I cannot take aspirin or Ibuprofen while on them. This is awkward, as I have bad arthritic pain in my hips (as well as other places), that is threatening to stop me performing many daily...

    Rare test, shock result!

Well I think I've found out why the weight isn't dropping. I've put my fats up again, as I now seem more used to them and it's definitely more tasty than 7 years of low-fat nonsense. But now, having read (& still am reading) a book called 'The 8 week blood sugar diet' by Michael Mosley, I've...

    Rare test, shock result!

Well after a couple of weeks (mostly) on the Diet Doctor diet, I've found the high fats hard to accept, and the lack of anything substantial like bread, potatoes and the like too hard to miss! I am trying really hard to get used to it though. Trouble is, my weight is not going down at all, I...

    Sore finger joints

I have very sore (& occasionally itchy) finger joints. But they are also swollen due to known Osteo Arthritis. I don't know if this is similar to anything any of you have. But when I first had this and went to my doctor's surgery, a nurse, not having any idea of what it could be, said "Well it...

    Rare test, shock result!

Yeah well thanks for that you two. I suspect my stomach problems may have more to do with the cholesterol. I think I will have slightly lower fats until I get used to the increased amount anyway, but seeing the doc on Monday will hopefully put my mind at ease. I worry too easily!

    Rare test, shock result!

Right OK, So now I'm on this LCHF diet, my partner (also a type 2), are feeling quite overloaded with fat! Plus we both had higher than average cholesterol at our last tests. I'm wondering if maybe we should cut back on the fat somewhat and maybe supplement that loss with something else? Her BG...

    Rare test, shock result!

Must get some of those Lidl's rolls, thanks for that Chook. My fbg was down this morning to 6.8, so I took a large sigh of relief, though obviously won't give up on the diet. That's going well, although I do still get hungry occasionally, so now go raiding the fridge & cupboards for low-carb...

    Rare test, shock result!

Well it must be a VERY slow acting medication then, as it can't have started yet! I was told it also helps with weight loss, but have yet to witness that. I think that I will get my BG under control now, as it's slowly going down, but I don't half miss bread, biscuits and any grain products, but...

    Rare test, shock result!

Well I know it's unrelated, but just to show how careless my surgery is, When I moved house in 2001, they managed to 'lose' all of my medical records from 1965 right up to 2001. So it would be no good me trying to access those! I didn't even get an apology. I've always wondered what the point of...

    Rare test, shock result!

Well. I feel better now. Weds. night dinner, we had bacon and eggs, with new potatoes for my partner, but a whole orange pepper instead of potatoes for me. Filled me up a treat and I didn't feel hungry at all! This morning (Thursday), I had a FBG reading of 8.7! I know it's still not good...

    Rare test, shock result!

I can see now that I've been a fool. I have just seen SO many different diets & dieting websites and even sat watching 'presentations' by men in white coats with stethoscopes round their necks on occasion, while very much doubting their medical qualifications! But looking at the Diet Doctor...
