Celeriac - serving suggestions & NI help

Thanks @KennyA - sounds great. We don't have fresh cream/double cream here... but I will try it with the slightly dubious sounding "UHT cremio for cooking" and see how it goes!

Celeriac - serving suggestions & NI help

We discussed this the other day... I will buy some seeds when I'm visiting the UK next week and see if we can get any going over here. I'm certainly not much of a gardener but worth a go in case supermarket supplies dwindle (after trying it for the first time when there was loads in stock but...

Celeriac - serving suggestions & NI help

Well I have now tried celeriac is mash, roasted and boiled forms and am very pleased to say I Love it! When roasted it almost tastes like parsnip (which I miss!). I suspect it must be fairly low in carbs as I've had 200g (raw weight) with some bolognaise this evening and my BG was only 0.5...

Celeriac - serving suggestions & NI help

Hi folks - Lidl didn't have any cauliflower today but I spotted celeriac which I've never tried, so decided to give it a go. No clue how best to prepare it though, so any suggestions welcomed. The main question though - can anyone provide me with some idea of accurate carb content, I know it's...

    Dark Chocolate

I'm not a big dark chocolate fan but find this is preferable to reduce some of the bitterness on the occasions I want something. I live in Eastern Europe though so I'm not sure if Stevia sweetened chocolate is available to you locally.

    2023/24 Football Season.

Think I've just about recovered from last night's 98th minute winner to beat Charlton at their place for the first time in 80 odd years. Great result after the disappointment of a postponed Saturday match. 9th place and 9 points off playoffs for our first season back in L1 doesn't feel too shabby.

    2023/24 Football Season.

Thanks @hankjam - just spotted that both teams in your fixture are fielding former Cobblers strikers. Billy McKay providing one of my best Cobblers away day moments, scoring against Liverpool before we went on to win on pens - Louis Moult, sadly left less of an impression! Good luck with...

    2023/24 Football Season.

I'm waiting for the inevitable announcement that our prolific goalscorer has been sold - he has been "injured" since after the Boxing day match which seems a little too coincidental.

    2023/24 Football Season.

Hi guys - just stumbled across this thread... I'm a Northampton Town supporter. Had a season ticket for years until I left the UK and now have an iFollow season ticket so I can watch all home and away matches from the weather-proof comfort of my sofa! (Although I did brave a rainy live match on...

What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

This morning I got my first sub-6 FBG of 5.9. After being told by my doctor that I wouldn't get it down below 9.5 without metformin, it's taken less than 2 months of diet only, low carb to get to this point. I think my stubbornness might be paying off

    Diagnosed - advice welcomed

@Paul_ thanks again for another encouraging response. It helped me today when I had a rather unexpected 9.3 pre-breakfast reading out of the blue (I retested and got a 9.1)...instead of freaking out, I ate sensibly and increased the length and intensity of my post-food exercise and had it down...

How much cheese is too much cheese?

Thanks @Grandma Misti - I hadn't thought of it as a "clogger" so something to bear in mind! I'm with you on the veg - I get more than 90% of my carbs from vegetables and have found reducing them after 25 years of a "if you're hungry, fill up on veg" mentality, the most difficult thing about...

How much cheese is too much cheese?

I've been low carbing for the last 6 weeks or so and have been tracking my carbs per day but not so much calories, etc. (Though I have set my meal tracker macros to 10% carbs, 70% fat and 20% protein - in line with figures for a keto diet I found online and generally I'm there or thereabouts...

    Diagnosed - advice welcomed

@Paul_ Thank you. Your response is really appreciated. I know the trend is generally in the right direction - I just started seeing a good few 6s and then they tended back into the 7s and it was a bit demoralising to see. I do indeed track my food intake using My Fitness Pal so I can check...
