    Blood in Lantus pen

Hi That does make sense Fern000 only the blood started to appear half way through injecting. I'd injected about 8 units and still had 9 to go. I do, however keep my thumb on the plunger when pulling out the pen.

    Blood in Lantus pen

Hi what is the yellow card scheme? I have been in contact with Sonofi and their medical and research department have taken all my details including batch number and expiry date of pen. I got the impression that the problem I encountered is either not common or has not been widely reported. One...

    Blood in Lantus pen

I use both insulins the same as you PaulXC and I've always injected into my stomach. Occasionally blood appears from the puncture site when I remove the pen but I have never known the blood to manage to get inside the pen. It is as you say like there has been a sucking reaction, but as you know...

    Blood in Lantus pen

Thanks Azure yes I agree I think I'll see if I can speak with Dr or DSN on Monday. Still making me squirm thinking about it even though over the years I've learned not to be squeamish where the sight of blood is concerned

    Blood in Lantus pen

Thanks both for your replies. I threw the pen away as I thought the insulin would most definitely be contaminated. I felt it was a waste, but no way could I have used the rest of the insulin. I felt disgusted too, partly because it looked horrible mingling with the insulin and I kept imagining...

    Blood in Lantus pen

Hi everyone. I wonder if this has happened to anyone and if so what might have caused it. I injected my Lantus as usual this evening. I expelled the air as always by shooting 2 units into the air. As the level of insulin was going down I noticed blood had gotten inside the transparent part of...

    Diabetes and anxiety

Big hugs too I understand fully where you are coming from. My readings are very erratic at the moment with lots of lows and highs. I am getting to the point where I don't want to go out for fear of something 'bad' happening. Hope you can get some help and support soon xx

    Rising HBA1C

Awww thanks catapillar I guess I am hard on myself because I see myself as a failure now this is happening which I know is a daft way of thinking as I'm doing my best. I did wonder about splitting the dose and see what happens then. Thankfully I don't have any complications, but I do worry if...

    Rising HBA1C

Thanks for your reply sud5nala. I have heard of gastroparesis , but not the loss of the incretin effect. I will have a little read up on that one. It did cross my mind that aging may be starting to play a part in making management and glucose controlling just that little bit more difficult...

    Rising HBA1C

Hi everyone feeling quite low and confused after my latest HBA1C result 2 weeks ago. My last 3 tests were 49, 48 and now for some unknown reason my latest has risen to 52! Strange thing is I have had some really bad hypos during the 3 month period that came back as 52. For the last week my DSN...

    Constant nausea

Thank you both for replying. I think I will ring my GP on Monday. The GP who prescribed this for me was the duty doctor and not renowned for being particularly careful or conscientious. Will not take any till I've spoken to my own GP or another doctor who I have a bit more confidence in. For the...

    Constant nausea

Hi everyone. I have been suffering from constant nausea for sometime now. At the beginning of this year I had a scan predominantly to see if I was suffering from an aortic aneurism, thankfully I'm not. A few months ago I was prescribed Omeprazole. After a few problems with raised sugar levels...
