I'm a bit like you. Diagnosed in 2012 and managed for a number of years on low carbon and then Metformin. Eventually Jardiance was mentioned and after very careful consideration, I started on it. This was about 18 months ago.
I was a bit paranoid about potential side effects and made sure I...
I can..... but there is payback as the more carbs you put in, the more sugar cones out in your wee and that can have consequences especially if you don't increase water intake to dilute it.
Yes..... but!!!! I had some pasta and garlic bread the other day and was 5.7 2hrs later. But! There was irritation in the nether regions later as payback!!
It took me a few weeks to get used to. I have irritation when I have had too much sugar or carbs but Bepanthem helps. I stick to low carb usually but make sure I have a slice of multiseeded toast for breakfast as I was told that hypos can be a problem.
I really didn't want to go on this drug...
I was admitted the other week with possible TIA - but at the stroke clinic a week later it was decided that it was part of a migraine (I felt I was talking rubbish but had just had a migraine without headache aura!). My bp was up when I was in hospital and I was given extra medication as I'm...
I have a similar rash on my feet and was initially thought to be fungal but did not clear up. Then the gp thought it could be psoriasis so I had a steroid cream which showed some improvement but I was only allowed to use it for 2 weeks as it was so strong. Then I went only a combined cream -...
I've been diet controlled for 9 years now but at the end of 2018 I had a HbA1C of 69, was put on metformin but stopped after a day or two of bowel side effects as I was going on holiday. So instead made a huge effort with walking on hol and low carb (easy on a cruise!) And did not go back onto...
I'm in the same boat! Did really well to get down to 43 and gradually slipped back into bad habits. Work pressures meant that I didn't get out and do as much walking either - which is stupid! Health comes first :). I've made excuses to cancel my last check up and I've put some of my weight back...
I was first diagnosed in 2011 as pre-diabetic. I think my HbA1C was 47. I got down to 41 6 months later and was told to carry on the good work! I was given a monitor and strips on prescription but I basically played the system - cheating myself. I would eat what I wanted up until a few weeks...
I've been playing the system since diagnosis in 2012. HbA1C in low 50s then < 47 3 months later. So 9 months of not worrying about it then 3 months of getting my act together. This time my HbA1C was 69 and I was told that I should go on Metformin. I agreed but said that I would be off it in 3...
A phlebotomist should not be allowed to take bloods without having a request from a doctor or specialist nurse. She was right but should have advised you to get a request form.
13.3 :( Im diet (un)controlled at the moment and went off the rails for a bit but back on the wagon now. Just rejoined low carb plan and gave myself a kick up the bum to get a grip! Daughters wedding in 6 weeks so need to lose about half a stone for that which will help.
