    Been put on Libre [emoji638]

The biggest problem I find is not being seen by the same person every time, or rather seeing someone different each time. You cannot build up a rapport, and they do not know how you are progressing (or regressing!). It makes managing your condition, and your feelings, which are equally as...

    Been put on Libre [emoji638]

This is one of the things I want to ask when I go on Thursday as I only sleep on my sides, so am concerned about pressure on the sensor, or dislodging it. On the phone she did suggest the upper thigh as an alternate location, but this would have the same problem in my case.

    Been put on Libre [emoji638]

My Hb1AC was high at my last review and I am going in next Thursday to discuss being given the Freestyle Libre for at least 2 weeks to monitor my levels. I am on slow release insulin once a day (Toujeo) with a fixed dose, but online (NHS) the criteria mentions using insulin multiple times a day...

Nobody told me Metformin causes explosive Diarrhea

In 2019 I was prescribed Metformin to try and reduce my blood sugar for a biopsy, but I, too, found it made me ill, with vomiting added to the diarrhoea. I stopped taking it, but managed to get the biopsy done anyway, though the following year I needed surgery so again was told to reduce my...

    Out of my control.

I was allowed sips of water, but they then told me I was drinking too much!

    Out of my control.

Thank you. They called me last week to say that both lungs are clear for now, but it could come back! Staying positive, though, and enjoying every day as it comes - life's too short not to!

    Out of my control.

I can understand this - I was "nil by mouth" after midnight (effectively 19.00 as that was when we had dinner!), and in the end my surgery was not until late the following day, so I went well over 24 hours without any food intake.

    Out of my control.

3 weeks ago I was admitted to hospital for surgery on my left lung - a metastasis from a chondrosarcoma (bone cancer) on my right shoulder (removed, including my shoulderblade in 2021) - following surgery on the right lung (for a similar problem) in January. The hospital insist on taking control...

    Understanding Blood Sugar levels

Since diagnosis I have never had a "Low" - my lowest ever was 5.8 while in hospital (food was terrible so I was eating very little!). I take my insulin at 20.00 so that is about an hour after dinner, and 3-4 hours before bed. As it is slow release I have no idea what it really does! I do know...

    Understanding Blood Sugar levels

No reasons given - I just do what I am told. No-one has ever suggested before and after meals (haven't got enough fingers to prick!), and have not been told not to do first thing (which also tends to be before breakfast), nor last thing at night (about 3 hours after food). I clearly have no idea...

    Understanding Blood Sugar levels

After a review in March I was told to test 4 times a day - fasting, before lunch, before dinner and bedtime, but in May they told me to reduce to 3 times a day, which I have done since then.

    Understanding Blood Sugar levels

I was diagnosed Type 2 about 15 years ago - not sure exactly how long as I was on "diet and exercise" for about 12 years and managing to control my blood sugar (between 7 and 9) without too much effort. 2019 I needed a biopsy (on what turned out to be bone cancer) but my sugar levels were too...

Confused about rising overnight blood sugar

I am T2, originally diagnosed over 15 years ago, but only on meds (insulin and janumet) for 3 years (prescribed to lower my levels for surgery!). My daily readings are on the high side - last 7 fasting (before breakfast) have been 9.9, 11.6, 11.5, 10.4, 11.4, 11.4, 11.7 (11-12 is my usual...

Type 2s: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning? (very low chat level)

15.1 at 7.00. Generally mine is 10 - 12 fasting, so today a bit high - and no idea why! Due a review at the end of the month, and insulin (Toujeo) still being amended (raised it myself to 46 units once a day - following guidelines from my advisor - this week). I have had Type 2 for over 15...
