    Rotating sites for injection

I get an occasional mark but my lipohypertrophy was caused by not changing my needles often enough and overusing a particular location on my stomach during a pregnancy. In your position, I'd talk to my clinic or DN to see if it's an insulin issue or a technique issue.

    Avoiding hypos

I find the tandem algorithm has drastically reduced my hypos but I do sometimes turn my insulin off if I'm on a walk where the connection between pump and cgm often gets lost. If the connection is OK then the pump turns itself off if I'm near a hypo.... The disadvantage with doing this is you...

    TYPE 2

Hi @oceans above 13 do you know what your hba1c was when you were diagnosed? (Your levels sound excellent to me now.) I'm guessing it must have been fairly high for you to be on insulin from the start....(But I'm T1 so could be totally wrong.) Have you told your DN/diabetes clinic about your...

    Humalin insulin

Hi @Thin_Lizzy do you mean humulin insulin? It has a number of different types: short , long and intermediate acting. I'm on the short acting (T1 on a pump). If you look at your insulin cartridge or prescription it should specify what type of humulin you are on. It would help if you told us...

Abbot Lingo - issues with scale

Thanks for sharing @IanBish. My suggestion to other UK lingo adopters - ask Abbott as Ian has and 1) you may get a free sensor 2) Abbott may fix this issue sooner rather than later.....

Type 1 Advice for Travelling with Type [emoji637] Diabetes

Hi @LilLoWilliams I've been T1 for 56 years and travelling overseas for most of them. Your profile says you are 27 so as long as your hba1c is reasonable I would expect that most/many insurances will cover your T1 as a pre-existing condition without any extra payment but you will need to...

Abbot Lingo - issues with scale

I agree, but still suspect a (slightly) premature product launch. @IanBish, why not email Abbott CS and ask .....

Abbot Lingo - issues with scale

Both Abbott and dexcom are US companies, so I guess the % and mg/dL figures creep in. (BTW @Rachox and @IanBish I've given both your posts winner emojis just because I'm so impressed by your levels). But looking at the adverts on the UK site the graphs are showing in mg/dl, so I suspect Abbott...

Abbot Lingo - issues with scale

What's the accuracy like @IanBish ? (Just curious)

    Dexcom placement

I am a fan of the tummy area (dexcom used to advise this rather than arms.) I mostly use arms now, but that is only because I reserve my tummy for my pump cannula.

Empagliflozin - Anyone taking or suggested to take

This was suggested to my (now 95) year old T2 father last year. He has had heart issues. At the time he declined because he was still drinking a lot of alcohol and was/is low carbing. But he does miss carbs, particularly bread, which my brother has reintroduced (in small quantities). As my...

Concern about weight gain on pump.

I have gradually gained weight over the last 30 years till I was borderline obese 5 years ago at 80kg. . I watched my carbs and my bgs and three years ago got down to 70kg (slightly overweight). I went onto a pump nearly two years ago, my total insulin reduced and I didn't put on any more...

    Smartwatch and libre sensor

@Antje77 have you considered moving to dexcom, which can be calibrated.... It does have the direct to watch feature if you have an apple watch and phone, but costwise it sounds like libre and jugloco is much cheaper, if as @Jaylee says it works without the phone.

What’s everyone planning now that Levemir is going?

Lantus is supposed to be fairly even over 24 (ish) hours, and many (most?) people are happy with it. I had some issues so ended up splitting the dose to lessen "irregularities", which did help. But in the end my clinic (in New Zealand) moved me to a pump.... To be honest I had many happy...

Initially I used Glyburide, Glipizide, and Micronase....

Hello again @zdeneck There are people out there who are T1 with high insulin resistance, so called double diabetes. I believe the official line is that T2 diabetics cannot become T1 diabetics, as the diseases have different causes, but T1s can develop insulin resistance (my dad is T2 and...
