    Uncontrollable MMol's

I think you need to speak to a medical professional, as we can't diagnose here, but illness of any sort can raise bgs... (As can lots of other things...) Good luck with your appointment.

Help, dexcom want me to buy a new phone for my G7

This message has just come up on my (moderately ancient) Samsung S10E After December 13 2025 your dexcom G7 app will no longer function on this device. To continue using the G7 app,you will need a new device. We recommend a phone that can run the latest (IOS, Android) OS version for long term...

    Sugars dropping too low

We aren't allowed to advise on specific insulin dosing but if my levels were like yours I'd be wanting to change my insulin dosing. (I've been diabetic for 55 years so I'm fairly confident to do this but if you aren't then you really need to reach out to your clinic for advice.) The whole idea...

    pump ideas

Hi @tam235 (Disclaimer I'm in New Zealand.) I've had periods of hypo awareness in the past (pregnancies were a nightmare) and usually regained some after keeping my bgs a bit higher for a couple of weeks/months. However 2 years ago my clinic thought I was having too many and I agreed so I...

    Tools to help carb counting

I'm on a pump too and I just wing it. I have accurate kitchen scales and the internet at home to keep my carb counting reasonably accurate there. It helps that I've been T1 for over 50 years and am good at mental arithmetic.... And I'm also relatively low carb (less than 100g a day).

Type 1 Not sure what is going on with me worried about nerve damage from Dawn Phenomenon

Hi @ryan1990 your historical control sounds excellent and though your current levels are worse they still aren't that bad. To be honest I'd be surprised if you were getting neuropathy so soon and I'd also expect it to be in your hands and/or feet, not your thigh. However I have got some lumps...

    Covid vaccine

I think that depends on personal circumstances. As a T1 I've been having annual flu jabs since my mid twenties and am grateful for it. I guess covid is still a bit of a new beast. I'm in New Zealand where covid jabs are still offered so I'll probably have a booster next time I travel to visit...

    Type 1'stars R Us

Could be this one https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/25519449/ (Has a fascinating scatter graph of insulin production versus length of dagnosis) but possibly the Scottish one where they found that some long term T1s were actually misdiagnosed? https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/33131101/ In the...

Recently diagnosed but now suffering from constant joint and hip pain

https://www.nhs.uk/medicines/dapagliflozin/side-effects-of-dapagliflozin/ In your position I'd contact a doctor or pharmacist urgently just to make sure that you aren't suffering from one of the (luckily incredibly rare) side effects of dapagliflozin....

    Type 1s and cataracts

I had my right eye done a year ago, via public health, in New Zealand. I only had to wait 6 months from referral, I suspect because they wanted to be able to see the back of my eye to check for retinopathy. It made a massive (positive) difference to my vision. I wouldn't say I enjoyed the op...

Injected bolus insulin in leg. What will happen?

Was it exactly the same spot as where you had just taken the basal? I can't imagine it making much difference if not, though I suppose you may or may not have a different absorption rate in your leg to where you normally take your bolus? When I was on a basal bolus regime, I didn't hae...

Research Shows Benefits of Tirzepatide for Type 1 Diabetes and Obesity

It is a very small study But I am boggled by the 16 fold decrease in insulin... Presumably all these people must have been on quite high doses and insulin resistant? Double diabetes? I would be very interested to read the results of a larger scale study...
