Reduced Carb Tolerance after Meat only diet - Thoughts?

I use the carbs and cals app. It was a one off fee of about £5 when I bought it. I find it very useful as it counts up each day the foods' value you put into your meals. Hope this helps.

    Any ideas or thoughts?

I started alogliptin and insulin (Humulin l 12 units a day) 2 weeks ago. I was also on gliclizide (past 6 months). My numbers were always double teens no matter how hard I tried to control with diet and exercise. I stopped taking the gliclazide 2 days ago. As of Sunday I haven't been higher than...

    Like Blood from a Stone

Hi ardvark. I too have this problem from time to time. I have found that keeping well hydrated helps. I also found the side of my fingers is easier to draw blood. If they're not playing ball the side of my thumbs (top joint along nail length) is the place to go. I can get a drop on the lowest...

    Newly diagnosed

Hi Tanmc. I too was only diagnosed in August this year. I felt out of my depth. I have found I cannot have rice, pasta, potato, bread as it sends my blood glucose through the roof. I took on board all everything that was said to me by the brilliant people on this forum. I am now much more...

    E Cigarettes

It is as easy as making a cup of tea. Firstly you need to source liquid nicotine. A web search will find many companies selling it. I personally use bluestar e-liquid.com at 72mg. I use vegetable glycerin base(VG). I purchase my PG and VG liquid from eBay but there are many places online to get...

    green tea

I also get a lot of headaches since being diagnosed (never suffered before) and find that a cup of tea really helps. I've tried loads of flavours and find they all help. The only one I don't care for is PGtips raspberry.

    green tea

I see a lot of people drink coffee on the forums. As someone who doesn't enjoy drinking coffee I drink green tea instead. I was just wondering if anyone else has experience of drinking green tea and feeling better for it. I drink it mostly when I get a tired/ thick head feeling and find 20 mins...

    E Cigarettes

I make my own liquid and don't have any problems with high blood glucose. I'm very careful to use the flavour concentrates with all the chemicals taken out. I started making my own as there's no way of knowing what is in the flavours a pre made product may have.

    Very new and nervous

Hi Barry. In response to your first question I don't know if you can be allergic to insulin. I do know that you can be insulin resistant. Second question. I was diagnosed t2 in August. I felt awful. I took the advice from the nurse at my local practice but found I couldn't eat all the carbs that...

    Feeling awfully tired every afternoon

I have 2 testing meters. 1 I bought as the pharmacist wanted to give me glucose tablets when I was in the chemists feeling I'll. I think she was trying to kill me as I had a reading of over 18 if memory serves me correctly. The other was prescribed by the diabetic nurse and I now get free...

    Feeling awfully tired every afternoon

I had a very low carb lunch of salad tuna with some mayo. I must say I feel a different person this afternoon having taken on board all the comments. I will try a lower than usual carb dinner. I shall now go and find a menu for the week that satisfies my needs but also meets the approval of a...

    Feeling awfully tired every afternoon

I had my first hba1c which was 80. I have been prescribed statins as my cholestrol reading was 7.6. All other bloods were within normal ranges, or I'm sure the gp would have prescribed some more tablets or dietary changes.
