    Carbohydrate Counting Course

I did the BERTIE course as it came up quicker, I was on the list for it and DAFNE and the waiting time for DAFNE is about 3 years in my Base hospital so it just went to a different location, made no odds because it's the same trust. I did my pump course with people who had done both and one who...

    Finding Employment With Type 1

Glucogel hypostop is available on prescription so that might help from that point of view, or else your dsn could supply you with some dextrose tablets as an outpatient? Employers are legally obliged to make reasonable adjustments. In terms of crazy highs and lows, have you done a carb...

    Pump insurance

Your pump should be added to your home insurance, rough figure for them is usually around the 3-5k mark. Any rep will tell you to get it on your policy and may give you a better idea of cost if your insurance company is asking for specifics. Sent from my D5803 using Diabetes.co.uk Forum mobile app

    Holiday Insurance

Insure and go are a reliable company, my first experience of them was when I was diagnosed, I was travelling in Canada and ended up in DKA for first diagnosis of type 1. They were great, covered all bills, flights, prescription costs etc. In saying that the policy then was pre diabetes but I...

    new (ish) diagnosed and confused

Alcohol can lead to chronic pancreatitis, which can lead to secondary forms of diabetes causing patients to become insulin dependent. Also the effect of alcohol on the liver can lead to an inability to effectively regulate blood glucose. So yes in theory alcohol can lead to diabetes but if you...
